About The Position

Sun Life U.S. is seeking a Director, Talent Acquisition (TA) to lead a high-performing, future-ready TA function that enables business growth across Sun Life U.S. This role operates as an enterprise leader, people leader, and strategic integrator, translating business priorities into talent strategies, aligning teams and partners around shared outcomes, and shaping a TA ecosystem that is data-driven, AI-enabled, and built for scale. Requirements

  • Enterprise Talent Strategy & Business Integration: Translate business priorities and market context into clear talent strategies and priorities.
  • Leadership & Team Engagement: Build and develop high-performing TA teams by setting clear expectations and leading with authenticity and consistency.
  • Coaching, Development & Performance Accountability: Coach and develop leaders and teams through candid feedback, development support, and clear accountability for outcomes.
  • Executive Influence & Matrix Leadership: Influence senior leaders, HR Business Partners, and cross-functional stakeholders in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Change Leadership & Adoption: Lead strategic change with clarity and consistency by setting expectations and reinforcing adoption.
  • Data, Digital & AI-Enabled Decision-Making: Use data, digital tools, and AI-enabled insights to inform decisions and improve outcomes.
  • Market Intelligence, Sourcing Strategy & Talent Foresight: Use external insights to inform sourcing strategies and anticipate future talent needs.
  • TA Governance, Risk, Compliance & Operational Stewardship: Ensure disciplined execution through strong governance, compliance, and operational oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Translate Sun Life U.S. business priorities into TA strategies and forward-looking workforce plans.
  • Partner with senior leaders, HR Business Partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to shape talent strategies and guide hiring decisions.
  • Lead the delivery of TA outcomes across direct and matrixed teams, empowering others to own outcomes while maintaining high standards, consistency, and accountability.
  • Lead and deliver strategic TA initiatives that evolve tools, processes, and ways of working.
  • Translate market insights and workforce trends into actionable sourcing strategies and internal mobility approaches.
  • Oversee TA governance, compliance, vendor management, and operational service delivery.
  • Strengthen Sun Life’s employer brand and candidate experience.
