Incumbent provides strategic planning, direction and leadership for materials management operations for all medical supplies at the Medical Center. Manages designing, planning, and directing the supply chain process, through creating systems, defining internal standards and ensuring standards are met. Incumbent represents materials management across the medical center on interdisciplinary committees. Advises senior management on a range of topics impacting the medical center related to equipment, materials, and supplies. Incumbent is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing all aspects of the Supply Chain, which includes Central Distribution, Receiving, Warehousing, and other related services. Incumbent is responsible for development, implementation and ongoing success of department and related organizational objectives and goals.

  • Minimum five years previous working experience managing organizational-wide supply chain activities - procurement, inventory control, purchasing, etc.
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain professional relationships with all levels of staff and coordinate supply chain activities across functions.
  • In-depth knowledge of business subjects such as purchasing, inventory systems & controls, and/or accounting.
  • In depth knowledge of the most current materials management best practices and systems.
  • Expert Excel skills.
  • Excels at organizing, simplifying and increasing efficiency of processes and procedures while still maintaining standards and compliance.
  • Demonstrated work experience using an automated purchasing/inventory control system.
  • Demonstrated skill in financial analysis, planning, and administration of a departmental budget.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to interpret data and make appropriate decisions for the organization using that data; knowing burn rate, utilization and forecasting.
  • Ability to evaluate conditions of task assignments and make recommendations to improve, revise, and/or clarify systems, procedures, and policies, etc. to promote increased efficiency in assignments and department operations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience supervising supply chain activities in hospital setting.
  • Understanding of JCAHO, DHS, and OSHPD regulations pertaining to medical supply storage and inventory controls in a medical center environment.

  • Knowledge of hospital supply items and terminology.
  • Knowledge of University and Medical Center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
