About The Position

As a part of the Walmart Supply Chain organization, you will contribute to the success of our Transportation Network. This team is at the crossroads of operations and technology to optimize transportation cost and service. To do this, the team manages carrier relationships, customer relationships, works with product, operations, and other business teams to drive end-to-end improvement, and drives changes and enhancements to system configurations and processes. Requirements

  • Provide strong leadership to a team of operators, proactively removing barriers and implementing forward-thinking strategies to cultivate carrier density in markets with capacity constraints.
  • Effectively leverage internal and external partnerships to drive optimal transportation outcomes and foster mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Drive clarity to Product and Global Tech to align and drive business strategy & growth through technology advancements; articulate and document business needs.
  • Ability to ruthlessly prioritize in a resource constrained environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the group by applying lean principles, conducting time studies, and fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Implement innovative ideas to enhance processes and optimize efficiency.
  • Conduct in-depth investigations into key drivers of transportation challenges, leveraging extensive datasets and performing ad hoc analysis.
  • Utilize the insights gained to make informed and strategic business decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field and 5 years’ experience in logistics, distribution, transportation, or related area OR 7 years’ experience in logistics, distribution, transportation, or related area.
  • 3 years’ experience with advanced functionality of Microsoft Office.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mature a Domestic Transportation Services business that creates a new lever to manage Transportation costs in a dynamic market; balance tradeoffs and outcomes across finance / management, 3P carriers, 3P suppliers, and a team of Associates.
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent.
  • Cultivate an environment where associates respect and adhere to company standards of integrity and ethics by integrating these values into all programs and practices; developing consequences for violations or non-compliance; and supporting the Open Door Policy.
  • Maximize the achievement of business goals by sponsoring and leading key community outreach and involvement initiatives, engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution, and evaluation of appropriate business plans and initiatives, and supporting associate efforts in these areas.
  • Ensure cross-functional collaboration which enables holistic buying decisions while leveraging supply chain scale to influence and reduce overall cost of goods by partnering with end-to-end supply chain and transportation teams; influencing stakeholders to adopt correct processes and communication channels to enable proper planning by all stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams in Product and Global Tech to deliver systems and tools to drive productivity and business growth.
  • Oversee supply chain flow process improvement efforts by managing the design, development, and delivery of new ways of working between supply chain stakeholders, overseeing the correction of errors processes and feedback loops, and directing areas of opportunity to improve service levels.
  • Supporting the use of end-to-end costing methodology and lean concepts, providing cost recommendations to reduce process waste, and provide opportunities for cost reductions and process efficiencies.
