About The Position

Creighton University seeks a dynamic and strategic Director to provide supervision, leadership, and oversight of the Student Leadership and Involvement Center while advising the Creighton Students Union, the university’s comprehensive student government. This role supervises five professional staff members and oversees campus programs, a living learning community, CliftonStrengths, Creighton Club Banking LLC, fraternity and sorority life, and approximately 400 student clubs serving undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive student engagement strategy that enhances belonging and involvement across the student experience. Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost for Student Life, this position serves on the Student Life Leadership Team, leads divisional assessment efforts, and coordinates the overall Student Life strategy.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of five to seven years of progressive experience in student activities or a related area is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex situations and make strategic decisions that support organizational goals.
  • Strong understanding of holistic student development and the motivations of students engaged in co-curricular learning.
  • Knowledge of student development theory and the ability to apply learning outcomes in program design and assessment.
  • Ability to engage diverse populations, anticipate challenges, resolve conflicts, and maintain a strong philosophical foundation for student activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with professional organizations such as NASPA, ACPA, NACA, ACUI, or AFA is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead professional for Club Banking and act as liaison with General Counsel, the university Treasurer, Finance, and external banking partners while overseeing student funding processes, supporting fundraising initiatives, and assisting with reconciliation of accounts for Creighton Clubs LLC.
  • Act as the primary advisor to the Creighton Students Union, including executive officers, the House of Delegates, and the Appropriations Committee, while supporting the allocation of approximately $1 million to student organizations and coordinating the annual audit process.
  • Provide oversight and training for more than 400 student clubs and organizations, including administration of the Student Organization Review Committee, event policies, and risk management strategies.
  • Coordinate institutional responses to student engagement involving demonstrations, activism, and controversial events by educating students on policies and reviewing and approving activities as appropriate.
  • Support the overall functioning of Student Life through management of critical incidents, student concerns, staff evaluations, and leadership of strategic initiatives that enhance the student experience.
