About The Position

Reporting directly to the Chief of Schools, the Director, Student Engagement, will work collaboratively with district staff, providing leadership and coordination of services related to the development, evaluation, and implementation of school and district climate initiatives. SUPERVISORY EXPECTATIONS: Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in education or project management related field, with three (3) years of related management or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents.
  • Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community.
  • Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public, and school board.
  • Applies advanced math concepts and math operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, correlation techniques, and sampling theory.
  • Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions.
  • Interprets an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge of relevant and current computer software programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Degree in educational leadership, administration/supervision, or related field preferred.
  • Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Educational Leadership, School Principal, or Administration and Supervision preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for improving the climate and culture of schools and district through the development of strategic planning initiatives, positive behavior supports, and fair and equitable disciplinary practices.
  • Provides oversight of the development, training, and implementation of all positive behavior support, restorative practices, and other classroom management programs.
  • Serves as the district contact and provides oversight of the development of the Code of Student Conduct.
  • Develops, in collaboration with district leadership, administrative guidelines and policies related to student conduct.
  • Develops and monitors all local and state discipline and student safety reporting procedures.
  • Interprets and disseminates information regarding laws and rules associated with out-of-school and exclusionary discipline: suspensions, expulsions, and alternative placement for general education.
  • Collaborates with parents, community agencies, school personnel, and other district leadership in the coordination of programs and services for students and student programming.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change as determined by the needs of the district.
