About The Position

Calling All Esteemed Leaders! This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of value ‑ based care by building high ‑ performing provider networks and launching innovative healthcare products across the North Division. The Director, Strategy and Network Development will play a pivotal role in advancing Providence’s transition to value ‑ based care, high ‑ value networks, and direct ‑ to ‑ employer solutions. The Role The Director, Strategy and Network Development is responsible for evaluating, developing, and launching new and innovative healthcare products and network strategies across the North Division. This role partners closely with payer contracting to assess payer partnership opportunities, evaluates healthcare delivery system partnerships, and collaborates with Contracting and Community Care Alliance with Providence (CCAP) leadership to grow and geographically expand provider network vehicles. The Director plays a significant role in achieving divisional strategic goals, including value ‑ based membership growth, high ‑ value and clinically integrated network development, and direct ‑ to ‑ employer contracting efforts that drive top ‑ line revenue. The role builds and manages internal and external relationships with providers, employers, and payers; supports payer contracting in the development of risk ‑ based agreements; and engages stakeholders to create sustainable, operationally viable solutions. This position evaluates market dynamics across the Division, partners in the development of value ‑ based care membership goals, and creates and executes strategic plans to achieve those goals. The role has a dual reporting structure with a solid ‑ line report to the System Executive Director, Product Development and a dotted ‑ line report to the North Division Chief Strategy Officer. This position plays a critical role in advancing Providence’s goal to create high ‑ performing networks and accelerate the transition to value ‑ based care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Clinical Science, or a related field.
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in health insurance, health systems, or a consulting firm.
  • Five (5) or more years of executive‑level leadership experience or comparable responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience in healthcare operations with a record of successfully implementing initiatives that achieve measurable results.
  • Proven success developing and executing business plans that increase market share and meet organizational objectives.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and establishing risk‑based and value‑based agreements with payers and providers.
  • Experience operating in regulated environments and communicating with regulatory agencies (e.g., Department of Insurance).
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare operations across the continuum of care, health insurance, population health management, and accountable care organizations.
  • Ability to assess physician employment models, incentives, alignment strategies, and clinical program integration.
  • Superior analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to extract insights from complex data.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive multiple large‑scale initiatives across a highly matrixed organization.
  • Strong strategic agility, planning, project management, and execution skills.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong customer focus, collaboration skills, and ability to build effective relationships with executives, physicians, and partners.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Washington healthcare market, including providers and consumers.
  • Strong knowledge of managed care contracting and healthcare insurance regulations, including DMHC and DOI requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop, and implement new business opportunities, product concepts, and network expansion strategies that increase market share, volume, revenue, and margin.
  • Partner in the growth and performance of Providence’s High Performing Network (CCAP – Community Care Alliance with Providence).
  • Provide leadership and influence across a highly matrixed organization to successfully operationalize new products and initiatives.
  • Operationalize products and services delivered directly to employers across the North Division.
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Large Group and Direct ‑ to ‑ Employer Strategy to execute comprehensive employer strategies.
  • Provide market insight to the Contracting team to support negotiations with payers, partners, new clients, and network providers.
  • Translate complex product and network opportunities into clear, actionable summaries for Medical Group and Hospital leadership.
  • Partner with Legal to ensure new products and network arrangements comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Generate innovative concepts to grow alternative, non ‑ delivery ‑ system revenue streams.
  • Evaluate and lead implementation of solutions that continuously advance the High Performing Network.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand product growth into markets surrounding the existing Providence footprint.
  • Collaborate with external health systems to expand existing products and launch new market opportunities.
  • Conduct complex analyses supporting strategy and business development initiatives across the North Division.
  • Remove barriers to implementation by identifying process gaps, coordinating analysis, and developing solutions.
  • Facilitate strategic value efforts across the Division to align partners, resources, performance monitoring, and outcomes.
  • Lead cross ‑ departmental initiatives to align resources and drive successful partnerships.
  • Develop standard metrics of success and promote best ‑ practice adoption.
  • Partner with Payor Contracting, Strategy, Population Health, and Operations across ambulatory and acute settings.
  • Effectively engage physicians and PCN leadership to support network and product success.
