About The Position

As a technical leader at Loblaw Digital, you will be instrumental in building, improving, and maintaining a world-class digital ecosystem. You will lead a team of engineers and software development managers in designing, developing, integrating, and testing services and platforms. This role requires extensive experience in designing and building microservices on the cloud, mobile productivity applications, excellent communication skills, and a strong drive to impact how Canadians shop. You will own the technical vision and strategy, make key architectural decisions, mentor a growing team, and uphold high standards in operational excellence and production availability. Working closely with the Senior Director, Software Development, and as a member of the technology leadership team, you will ensure the rewards program platform scales to meet ambitious business growth targets while addressing functional and non-functional requirements. You will lead and mentor technical leads and developers, focusing on continuous improvement, software excellence, and maintaining a high-performing development organization. Additionally, you will manage outsourced development partners across onshore and offshore teams.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a Director level role, preferably in an eCommerce business.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Excellent understanding of cloud technology stack and microservices architecture.
  • Excellent understanding of agile principles and methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of the retail industry as it relates to eCommerce.
  • Good understanding of both front end and back end technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a cross-functional environment and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive clear action and ownership among large development teams.
  • Eye for talent and a history of building high-performance development teams.
  • A true leader who enables and inspires their team to do their best work.
  • Hands-on technologist who can dive deep and hold their own with senior developers building a scalable product.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and mentoring a high-performing team in a rapid development environment.
