About The Position

AXS is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead and grow the team responsible for the AXS Marketplace, a third-party resale integration enabling fans to purchase inventory for various events. This role is central to the fan experience, influencing how fans discover and secure seats. The Director will oversee development efforts for the Marketplace's underlying technology, collaborating closely with product management to define product and technology direction, manage timelines, mitigate risks, and make architectural decisions for scalable solutions. This is a high-growth area with increasing platform demands, requiring the Director to build both the team and systems to meet these challenges. A key aspect of the role is developing engineers and emerging leaders within the team to support its expansion.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of technical and management leadership experience
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience designing and building software platforms
  • Experience coding in .NET or Node.js
  • Worked in a continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) environment
  • Experience working with and deploying to cloud environments
  • Experience with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools and best practices
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Communicate clearly, build trust with product and cross-functional partners, and keep stakeholders aligned through ambiguity

  • Lead a team of high-caliber engineers: owning hiring, the development of your people, and a culture where strong engineers do their best work and stay
  • Own the development efforts behind the AXS Marketplace, our third-party resale integration that lets fans purchase inventory for the events they care about
  • Partner deeply with your product counterpart to shape the direction of the product and the underlying technology, from roadmap through architecture
  • Set technical direction and bring clarity to a fast-moving, high-growth charter: sequencing the work and derisking large initiatives
  • Scale the platform to meet rapidly growing demand while holding a high bar on reliability, performance, and quality
  • Make sound architectural decisions across a broad surface and keep the team aligned as priorities shift
  • Grow the next layer of engineering leadership by developing engineers and senior ICs so the team can take on more
