About The Position

The Director of the Simulation Center plans, implements, operates, evaluates, and continuously improves simulation-based education and training activities for healthcare and public safety programs. The Director provides leadership and oversight of simulation operations, educational quality, personnel, fiscal resources, simulation technologies, across multiple campus locations and ensures compliance with institutional policies, safety requirements, and simulation best practices. In accordance with Colorado Revised Statutes 24-50-135, this position has been exempted from the State Personnel System. Colorado PERA retirees are not eligible to fill this expect on an interim basis and only a prescribed by PERA regulations.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or higher in Nursing or in a related healthcare or medical field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare, healthcare simulation, healthcare education, or a related field.
  • Eligible for a Colorado vocational credential.
  • Current healthcare license, if applicable to discipline.
  • Able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Able to read and communicate in English.
  • Mobility around campus.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in curriculum development, faculty development, educational assessment, and program administration preferred.
  • Experience managing personnel, budgets, educational programs, and healthcare simulation technologies preferred.
  • CHSE (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator) preferred certification

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates simulation-based education and training activities.
  • Collaborates with faculty and program leadership to integrate simulation activities into curricula and support student learning outcomes.
  • Oversees simulation operations across multiple campus locations to ensure consistency in policies, procedures, learner experiences, equipment management, and instructional quality.
  • Oversees simulation technologies including high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, audiovisual systems, simulation software, virtual reality technologies, and related educational technologies.
  • Coordinates scheduling, utilization, maintenance, inventory, and replacement planning of simulation equipment and resources.
  • Develops and facilitates faculty development activities related to simulation design, facilitation, debriefing, assessment, and simulation best practices.
  • Assists faculty with scenario development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of simulation experiences.
  • Collaborates with faculty across healthcare and public safety programs to develop, implement, and evaluate simulation-based learning experiences.
  • Supervises assigned personnel and student employees associated with simulation operations.
  • Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and operational guidelines for simulation activities and facilities.
  • Participate in the development and administration of departmental budgets and resource planning.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports simulation utilization data, learner outcomes, and program effectiveness measures to support continuous quality improvement efforts.
  • Participates in accreditation, program review, assessment, and quality improvement activities related to simulation-based education.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with healthcare organizations, educational institutions, community partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Represents the Simulation Center and Pueblo Community College at professional meetings, conferences, community events, and workforce development activities.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies, trends, and best practices to enhance simulation-based teaching and learning.
  • Leads strategic planning initiatives related to simulation services, technology integration, facility development, and program growth.
  • Maintains compliance with College, State, Federal, and accrediting agency regulations and requirements.
  • Assists with grant development, implementation, reporting, and management activities related to simulation initiatives.
  • Supports workforce development, continuing education, and community training activities.
  • Travels between campus locations and external partner sites as needed.
  • Maintains professional development and competency in simulation-based education and related technologies.
  • Attends graduation ceremonies.
  • Works independently with little supervision or as part of a team.
  • Communicates effectively with students, colleagues, and others.
  • Interacts professionally and respectfully with students, colleagues, and others.
  • Assesses individual and department work processes and recommends improvements.
  • Complies with State Fiscal Rules, State Board policies, System and College protocols, and departmental procedures.
  • Obtains and maintains proficiency with required systems and equipment.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student and employee information as required.
  • Completes all required compliance training within the established timeline.
  • Serves on committees and other groups as assigned.
