The Director of Risk plays a key role in coordinating multiple facets of the overall risk management process. This role involves managing risk identification, avoidance, and mitigation through collaboration with all levels of leadership, providers, front-end staff, and other stakeholders. The Director also manages the evolving needs of active litigation cases, including investigations, interviews, depositions, and gathering legal hold records as determined by legal counsel. Responsibilities include training leaders, providers, and various hospital staff on the risk management program and incident reporting. The Director is responsible for the overall risk management program of the hospital and affiliated clinics and serves as the Compliance and Ethics Officer for the facility. The role contributes by utilizing specialized plan-of-care intervention, serving as a patient-care innovator, shaping exceptional patient journeys, and leveraging skills and cutting-edge technology to directly impact patient well-being.

Requirements

  • Current state RN license.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school.
  • BLS certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • At least five years’ experience in Nursing.
  • At least three years as a Director/Manager.

Nice To Haves

  • MSN, Healthcare Administration, and MBA strongly preferred.
  • Prior acute healthcare risk management experience is preferred and can substitute for the leadership experience.
  • Experience working in a for-profit hospital strongly preferred.
  • Previous Director level experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate multiple facets of the overall risk management process.
