About The Position

Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of UHS, is a 182-bed treatment facility specializing in the treatment of substance abuse and mental health issues for youth, adults, and seniors. The Director - Risk Management's responsibility is to protect the hospital's assets from loss through various loss control efforts, including advising administration of potential sources of loss and making recommendations to minimize or eliminate exposure. The structure and function for managing risks are identified through the Risk Management Plan and Patient Safety Program. Activities may include monitoring, analysis, reporting, conducting investigations, educating, facilitating regulatory and accreditation activities, and facilitating performance improvement task forces, teams, and/or committees. This individual directs others within the organization in safety and risk mitigation related to medical/health care errors and/or unintended adverse patient outcomes. Universal Health Services, Inc. Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Three (3) years clinical experience in a psychiatric in-patient facility with knowledge of high- risk areas.
  • Knowledge of hospital operations, risk identification, assessment and reduction and claims management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA, OSHA, Patient Rights, State legislation and Risk Management Standards.
  • CPR/BLS/CPI certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed professional a plus.
  • Three years management experience preferred.
  • Risk Management Certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyze, report, conduct investigations, educate, facilitate regulatory and accreditation activities, and facilitate performance improvement task forces, teams, and/or committees.
  • Direct others within the organization in safety and risk mitigation related to medical/health care errors and/or unintended adverse patient outcomes.
  • Direct the Health Information Management Service Department within all standards established by the regulatory and licensing agencies regarding patient record standards.
  • Ensure Confidentiality.
  • Maintain knowledge of ICD-9-cm, CPT coding.
  • Understand Risk Patterns and prevention.
  • Effective Department staffing and leadership experience.
  • Sensitive and aware of diverse cultures and their practices.
