Director, Risk Management, EHS & Sustainability
About The Position
The Director of Risk Management, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Sustainability leads the organization’s enterprise risk management, safety, fleet, environmental compliance, and sustainability strategies. The role ensures safe and compliant operations while advancing sustainability initiatives intended to support long-term value and stakeholder trust. The Director advises executive leadership and leads a cross-functional team, partnering with Operations, HR, Finance, Legal, Corporate Communications, and other business groups. Responsibilities include developing the enterprise risk management framework; managing the insurance program, broker selection and contracts, and claims; identifying and mitigating organizational risks; maintaining risk registers; and supporting business continuity, crisis management, and emergency response. The Director oversees EHS programs and regulatory compliance, safety policies, audits, inspections, incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety-culture initiatives. The role partners on sustainability strategy and reporting, including disclosures such as GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP, and SEC climate disclosures, and tracks metrics related to emissions, waste, recycling, and fleet matters. Additional scope includes leading the ISO 14001 program and recertification, managing ISO 9001:2015 for Risk Management, the Corporate Fleet Program, the Corporate Wellness Center, Risk Management M&A projects, and the Corporate security team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience in risk management, EHS, sustainability, or related functions.
- Experience in a leadership role within a complex or regulated environment.
- Deep knowledge of EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT; sustainability frameworks; and risk management principles.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with sustainability reporting standards such as GRI, SASB, and TCFD.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Data-driven decision-making and analytics capability.

- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification.
- CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) certification.

Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the enterprise risk management framework across the organization.
- Manage the company’s insurance program, including preparing bid specifications, conducting the selection process, negotiating broker contracts, and overseeing claims.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize operational, financial, strategic, and regulatory risks; implement mitigation strategies and controls.
- Maintain risk registers and report risk exposure to executive leadership.
- Support business continuity planning and crisis management, and coordinate emergency response programs.
- Oversee EHS programs and compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other relevant regulations.
- Develop and enforce company-wide safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Lead initiatives to reduce workplace incidents, injuries, and environmental impacts.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Promote a strong safety culture through training, engagement, and leadership.
- Partner with business groups to design and implement sustainability strategy aligned with corporate goals.
- Co-lead sustainability reporting and disclosures, including GRI, SASB, TCFD, CDP, and SEC climate disclosures.
- Track and report sustainability metrics, including carbon emissions, waste and recycling, and fleet matters.
- Ensure adherence to environmental, health, safety, and sustainability regulations; partner with Legal on regulatory risks and filings.
- Support governance committees, coordinate with Audit, Compliance, and Finance, and support internal and external audits.
- Lead and develop a cross-functional team across risk, EHS, and sustainability disciplines.
- Collaborate with Operations, HR, Finance, Legal, and Corporate Communications; influence senior leadership and advise executive leadership.
- Lead the ISO 14001 program, initiatives, compliance, and recertification.
- Manage ISO 9001:2015 for Risk Management.
- Manage the Corporate Fleet Program and initiatives.
- Manage the Corporate Wellness Center.
- Lead Risk Management M&A projects.
- Manage the Corporate security team.
