About The Position

To plan, coordinate, and direct the administrative and operational activities of the department of respiratory care in the provision of care for pediatric and adult patients with breathing disorders. To establish departmental policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an accredited respiratory program and four (4) years of related experience or Associate's degree in an accredited respiratory program and six (6) years of related experience.
• Registered (RRT) and Certified (CRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC); Mississippi licensure.
• Knowledge of the human anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, and/or pharmacology.
• Knowledge of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and tests, equipment, patient assessment, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, and respiratory health promotion and disease prevention.
• Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal skill to interact with patients, staff, and management.
• Ability to develop, implement, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

Nice To Haves

• Masters preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and monitors all operations, functions, and resources to assure optimal and safe patient care in the delivery of respiratory services.
• Determines fiscal requirements, prepares financial reports and monitors departmental expenditures.
• Directs and monitors the allocation of staffing; selects, evaluates, and retains competent staff.
• Develops and implements professional standards and quality control measurements to assure an optimum level of patient care, maximize functional outcomes, and adherence to regulatory standards.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of department operations and implements changes/training as necessary.
• Serves as a liaison between medical staff and administration and other departments.
• Coordinates and consolidates services with vendors and suppliers to assure efficiency of services and quantity and quality of supplies, while reducing expenditures.
