About The Position

Provides leadership and guidance in the quality assurance function at both the Byram, and Fairfield facilities, which includes planning, directing, and controlling. Establishes, implements, coordinates and supervises the company's Quality Management system including policies, objectives, plans, organization, procedures and appraisals. Ensures that the quality of products and services meet the requirements, specifications and quality standards established by the customer, company, and applicable governmental agencies. Interaction is with all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Total Quality Management, or Business or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years progressive experience in quality assurance.
  • Eight years experience in a manufacturing environment in one or more areas of the ASQ body of knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • ASQ certification as Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, or Quality Auditor.

  • Must pass the ATF Background check.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates the activities of quality engineering, administration, and inspection and test functions to ensure that proposed and existing products and processes are reviewed for the purpose of avoiding or eliminating unnecessary quality difficulties; develop recommendation for improvements that increase product uniformity and reliability and improve quality characteristics to reduce failures and complaints and that products are inspected and tested as required prior to shipment.
  • Ensures all quality functions are supporting corporate and departmental goals. Communicates policy changes throughout CAD.
  • Acts as the Safety Officer for Fairfield Facility (effective December 2009). Member of CAD's Safety Steering Committee together with Director of Engineering and VP of Byram Operations.
  • Manages the formulation of basic policies, plans, procedures, programs standards and techniques necessary to carry out the objectives of the Quality Assurance department, and upon their approval, implement and maintain such policies, plans, procedures and programs.
  • Develops and maintains a sound organization structure, staffed with qualified personnel, for the performance of all quality activities, establish standard for measuring the performance of the quality function, and provide for personnel counseling, instruction or training as required.
  • Manages the development and maintenance of methods and systems for measuring the degree by which the company's quality goals, objectives and standards are being met, provide management with the results and recommend any corrective action that may be required.
  • Interacts with operations, sales, marketing and engineering to establish quality requirements on individual products and services on the basis of customer need, the function of the product, and its reliability, salability, and value; and assures that quality considerations are properly addressed as early as possible in the product-design stage.
  • Ensures quality participation in all phases of design review in the new product development process.
  • Ensures the development and implementation of quality plans for all company products and services.
  • Oversees procurement quality assurance activities.
  • Designates the chair for the Material Review Board meetings and ensures that dispositions on all nonconforming products are made.
  • Establishes requirements for personnel training and reviews training logs.
  • Conducts coaching, counseling, intervention and performance review of subordinates.
  • Coordinates vacations and leaves of subordinates.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.
  • Adheres to the Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) policies and procedures related to NIST 800-171 and completes all required CUI Awareness training, which includes collection, processing/handling, transmission, storage, and general safeguarding practices.
