About The Position

The Director, Project Management Office (PMO) leads the strategic planning, prioritization, and execution of large-scale projects that align with SFHP's goals. Reporting to the Executive Team, you will oversee a team of Project Managers, promote a culture of disciplined delivery, consistency, and continuous improvement across the enterprise. You will be responsible for Enterprise Project Governance (EPG) and furthering PMO performance. You will work with all areas, at all leadership levels, and prioritize SFHP's annual project portfolio, improving internal operational efficiency, and chairing the EPG committee. This is a hybrid position, based in our Downtown San Francisco office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health care administration, business, public health, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of project and program management experience
  • 7+ years senior leadership experience managing staff
  • Formal project management training such as PMP
  • 5-7 years of experience in the healthcare industry

Responsibilities

  • Define, prioritize, and align project portfolios.
  • Ensure the success of the PMO function through developing a comprehensive plan.
  • Develop standard tools and processes to track and measure the achievement of desired EPM goals and outcomes, within specific project work-plan parameters.
  • Lead the Enterprise Project Governance (EPG) Committee.
  • Develop and implement standardized project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid), frameworks, and governance processes (e.g., stage-gates).
  • Champion the development and adoption of SFHP project management processes and policies; influence and work with department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs in accordance with policies.
  • Define and implement best practices on working to deliver projects.
  • Lead the Enterprise Project Management (EPM) Team to support the execution and delivery of SFHP's strategic and mandate driven projects and programs.
  • Coach project managers the use of consistent methodologies and career growth.
  • Manage enterprise-level capacity planning and resource allocation to resolve conflicts and support high-priority initiatives.
  • Develop annual operational and capital budget, as it relates to enterprise-wide project needs and monitor expenditures to ensure they are within budgeted guidelines.
  • Provide high-level portfolio reporting to executives and steering committees, presenting on status, risks, and financial performance.
  • Identify and mitigate enterprise-level risks, dependencies, and issues across the project portfolio.
  • Drive organizational change in partnership with leadership to ensure project adoption and sustained integration of business processes.
