Director, Production Planning

F. Schumacher & Co.Passaic, NJ
Onsite

About The Position

Paramount Prints, a proud subsidiary of F. Schumacher & Co., is an in-house hand-screened and digital printing studio operating across two facilities: its Brooklyn Navy Yard location, dedicated to digital production, and its Passaic, New Jersey facility, where both hand-screened and digital production take place. The company oversees every step of the production process firsthand, from screen making and file work to managing raw materials, printing, new product development, and shipping and receiving, primarily serving its parent company and third-party B2B customers. This end-to-end supervision allows Paramount Prints to maintain an eco-friendly process while ensuring unparalleled design flexibility and superior quality control. The company prides itself on its custom, hands-on approach, adjusting and refining at every step to guarantee the best possible outcome for its clients. The ideal candidate is a seasoned planner who takes genuine ownership over the optimal schedule and delivering everything needed to ensure smooth production, comfortable making judgment calls when priorities conflict and communicating those calls clearly. They take pride in a well-run operation and find satisfaction in a clean inventory count as much as in a perfectly delivered customer order.

Requirements

  • 4 to 7 years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to build and manage production schedules in a multi-SKU, deadline-driven environment
  • Working proficiency with scheduling and inventory management tools
  • Working experience in procurement processes, including PO management and vendor coordination
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills; able to align stakeholders across sales, operations, and the production floor
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with a track record of spotting and resolving planning gaps before they become problems

Nice To Haves

  • Background in textile, wallcovering, specialty print, or adjacent manufacturing
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly in a production or inventory management context
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Production scheduling and capacity planning across both our NJ & Brooklyn facilities, building and maintaining a master schedule that balances intercompany and external customer priorities and maximizes revenue & throughput. You will anticipate bottlenecks before they happen and make clear-eyed calls when demand exceeds capacity.
  • Inventory and materials management, maintaining adequate stock levels of grounds, inks, and consumables to keep production running without tying up unnecessary capital. You own the reorder logic, the safety stock thresholds, and the accuracy of what's on the shelf.
  • Procurement of materials and production equipment, building reliable supplier relationships and managing lead times so we’re ready to fulfill customer orders according to SLAs.
  • Vendor and supplier performance management, tracking on-time delivery, quality, and pricing to hold partners accountable and inform sourcing decisions.
  • Customer collaboration on strike-offs and new goods trials, working directly with clients & business partners to validate color, print, and repeat before a full run begins.
  • New product and substrate onboarding, coordinating the operational side of introducing new materials or processes, from trial runs through full production readiness.
  • Continuous improvement across planning, scheduling, and inventory processes, regularly reviewing what is working and what is not, and driving changes that improve reliability, reduce lead times, and sharpen cost efficiency across both facilities.
  • ERP and systems support, serving as the production voice in any system improvement or integration effort, ensuring that data and workflows reflect how the floor actually operates.
  • Production reporting and KPI visibility, providing the President and cross-functional partners with a clear, regular read on schedule adherence, capacity utilization, and inventory health
