Director Production Control
About The Position
Leidos Defense Manufacturing Sector is seeking a Director Production Control to join its manufacturing support team in Huntsville, Alabama. The role leads site Production Control Managers and drives tactical standardization of material requisitioning and production planning across nine manufacturing sites. The Director leads teams responsible for manufacturing production control activities, including material requirements planning (MRP), capacity leveling across production work centers, firming purchase requisitions and manufacturing orders, setting order policies based on make-or-buy and commodity types, and maintaining accurate lead times in the ERP part master table. The role coordinates with configuration management, manufacturing engineering on mBOM releases, and production scheduling. The position supports manufacturing processes including machining, welding, PCBA, cable assembly, clean rooms, painting, and final assembly integration and testing. Across multiple production sites, the Director develops standard processes, consistent KPIs, daily, weekly, and monthly operating rhythms, and networks for sharing best practices throughout the enterprise. The role is based in Huntsville, Alabama; candidates must live in or be willing to relocate to the North Alabama area and must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field from an accredited university.
- At least 12 years of production control experience.
- Experience with the Costpoint ERP system, as well as PLM, MES, and capacity planning software programs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, and Teams.
- Experience leading others and working collaboratively across multiple sites and organizational levels.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven track record developing and driving adherence to standardized, tactical execution processes.
- Experience working across multiple phases of the product life cycle, including prototyping, design and development, and full release to production.
- Resident of the North Alabama area or willingness to relocate to the Huntsville–North Alabama area.
- U.S. citizenship and possession of a Final Secret Clearance, or eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Nice To Haves
- MBA or MS degree.
- Solumina MES experience in addition to Costpoint ERP experience.
- Dynafact Manufacturing System (DMS) capacity planning experience.
- Lean manufacturing experience with Six Sigma certification.
- Proven track record of process mapping and policy creation to drive standards that increase throughput, engage the workforce in adopting change, reduce waste, and improve quality.
- CPIM, CSCP, or CPM certification.
- Experience with SCADA software and/or MS Power BI dashboards, including the ability to write queries using data from external database sources.
