About The Position

The Ziff Davis Shopping team is seeking a visionary and strategic Director, Product Merchandising to define and scale the future of our commerce content. In this senior level role, you will champion the intersection of data-driven automation and high-caliber editorial storytelling. You will own the overarching product curation strategy, lead high-performing teams, and spearhead the integration of AI and next-generation tooling to maximize both operational efficiency and business growth. Requirements

  • 10+ years of digital commerce/e-commerce experience, with at least 5+ years of proven success in a director-level or senior people-management role leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Deep, dual background combining e-commerce product merchandising with professional digital editorial content strategy.
  • Natural, highly developed "eye" for compelling product deals, with a history of success navigating fast-moving, high-volume digital publishing or retail environments.
  • Proven track record of successfully designing, deploying, and leveraging AI tooling, automation, and modern digital workflows to drive operational efficiency at scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize advanced commerce data analysis to drive executive decision-making, while maintaining uncompromised editorial standards.
  • Extensive experience leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives and collaborating with technical product teams to build or improve internal tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or equivalent advanced experience preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing product merchandising organization.
  • Transition the department toward highly efficient, tech-enabled, and automated workflows.
  • Champion the strategy to streamline 90% of manual merchandising tasks through smart automation and AI integration, shifting the team’s focus from task completion to high-impact strategic growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with senior editorial leaders to define and safeguard the critical 10% of human editorial input—the domain expertise and storytelling—that drives a superior user experience and distinct brand voice.
  • Partner directly with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to refine automated product selection, personalization, and promotion logic.
  • Own the performance metrics, revenue outcomes, and conversion optimization strategies for product discovery, balancing data-driven efficiency with editorial excellence.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, mentoring the management team to prioritize high-value human touchpoints that distinguish our commerce content from competitors.
