Director, Product Management (Security)

Cribl
•$275,000 - $310,000•Remote

About The Position

Cribl is seeking a product leader to shape the next wave of its security portfolio following the launch of Cribl Detect, its SIEM built on the Cribl platform. The Director of Product Management for Security Products will evaluate potential product areas beyond Detect, recommend priorities, and develop build, partner, or buy cases. The role will lead funded initiatives from customer discovery and product definition through delivery, launch, and growth, while ensuring new capabilities work natively with Cribl Detect and its shared data model, detections, alerts, and workflows. The scope is intentionally open for a leader who wants to shape a portfolio and bring deep security expertise to decisions made amid uncertainty. This remote-first role involves close collaboration with customers and design partners, engineering, Marketing, Sales, and technology partners. The director will also hire and lead product managers as initiatives are funded and represent Cribl Security with customers, analysts, and at industry events. Work spans multiple time zones, and occasional duties outside standard working hours may be required.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product management or a closely related role, including 5+ years building security products.
  • Deep understanding of security operations, including SIEM, detection engineering, incident response, and day-to-day SOC work.
  • Hands-on product experience in at least one of security automation and response (SOAR), identity security (ITDR, UEBA), AI or agentic security, or threat detection and response.
  • Track record of taking a product from 0 to 1, from problem discovery to a product customers pay for and use.
  • Experience evaluating new markets, building business cases, and making clear portfolio recommendations with incomplete information.
  • Experience leading or mentoring product managers and influencing engineering, marketing, and sales.
  • Technical depth to work with engineers on data architectures, detection logic, and AI/LLM-based systems.
  • Strong written communication, including writing strategy documents and PRDs and making decisions in writing.
  • Good judgment under uncertainty, including the ability to recommend against building a product.
  • May occasionally need to perform duties outside standard working hours because the company works across multiple time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Earlier career experience on a security operations team, such as SOC, detection engineering, or incident response.

  • Experience with partner-led product strategy or M&A evaluation.
  • Familiarity with OCSF, KQL, and MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Experience working with security customers in both the US and Europe.
  • Experience in remote-first, distributed organizations.
  • A willingness to speak up and share ideas.
  • Good jokes, or bad ones.
  • A love of goats.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategy for the next wave of security products through market analysis, customer discovery, competitive analysis, and prioritization recommendations.
  • Build business cases for potential product areas, including customer problems, market size, Cribl’s competitive opportunity, build/partner/buy options, and required investment.
  • Lead execution of funded initiatives by defining products, writing requirements, setting success metrics, and driving delivery with engineering from 0 to 1 and beyond.
  • Ensure new capabilities work natively with Cribl Detect, including shared data models, detections, alerts, and workflows.
  • Spend time with CISOs, SOC managers, detection engineers, and analysts, and work with design partners to validate product direction.
  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, and technology partners on positioning, packaging, launch, and field enablement.
