About The Position

USAA is launching a new USAA Investment Service Company (ISCO) to serve veterans and their families. ISCO will combine personalized advice with investment products and solutions. The Investment Nurturing team focuses on creating a continuous, personalized, and compliant post-account opening experience across channels to grow member trust, increase engagement, and expand lifetime value. This role is not transactional but uses triggers to build experiences that deepen member relationships with USAA Investment Advisory. The Director, Product Management will support these nurturing efforts by managing a team of individual contributors responsible for formulating product/sales strategy recommendations based on analysis of profitability, competitiveness, and sales performance. This role involves compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data to make strategic and tactical recommendations, defining business questions, and providing insights to improve business performance. The position supports the maintenance of existing products and may lead the development and launch of less complex new products with channel partners, managing and prioritizing deliverables using Agile principles. The role offers a flexible work environment requiring 4 days in the office per week and is based in Plano, TX or Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, Behavioral Psychology or Statistics OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree (Total of 12 years of experience without bachelor’s degree)
  • 8 years of relevant industry experience in Actuary, Underwriting, Marketing, Distribution or Sales/Service or Finance/Accounting Operations, Financial Services or Wealth Management.
  • 4 years of product management, or similar strategic management experience (similar experience includes direct support in managing product performance).
  • 3 years of direct team lead or management experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (i.e. FINRA).
  • Experienced in market research to create product roadmap, make product decisions and iterate rapidly.
  • Expert knowledge of applicable product related regulations and, risk and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Communicating and promoting the product value proposition to the Distribution organization.
  • Ensuring the product team delivers sales support to all distribution channels (e.g., .com, mobile, contact center) through sales tool and collateral development, and sales training.
  • Developing new product or sales offerings and enhanced features/services to existing product or sales offerings utilizing Agile methodologies.
  • Leading research, analysis, and evaluation of performance metrics to drive recommendations for market opportunities or product enhancements.
  • Leveraging resources to gather data and member information to support product strategy formulation and acquire competitive intelligence.
  • Partnering with stakeholders to develop communications for product and pricing strategies to key stakeholders and committees.
  • Building and overseeing a team of employees for the assigned functional area through recruiting, development, retention, coaching, support, performance management, and managerial activities.
  • Interpreting performance results to inform product or sales forecast and planning.
  • Ensuring risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
