About The Position

This role blends on-court coaching with national coordination, emphasizing the American Development Model and the USTA’s athlete-centered philosophy. This role will collaborate with USTA Sections, private coaches, parents, and Sport Science experts to create inclusive and developmentally appropriate environments that inspire long-term growth, character, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in junior player development, talent identification, or high-performance coaching.
  • Proven success in developing or supporting nationally ranked players within the 10U–13U age group.
  • Strong understanding of competition structures, developmental progressions, and skill acquisition principles.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with sport science, coaching education, and competition teams.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, athlete management systems, and video analysis tools.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 35% and be based at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, FL.

  • Master’s degree in Sports Science, Coaching, or Education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Director, Head of Player ID & Development in executing the national 13U Talent ID strategy, ensuring consistent alignment with ADM principles.
  • Lead the delivery of National, Regional, Sectional, and Developmental camps, training blocks, and invitational events that combine both identification and development goals.
  • Use a standardized framework to evaluate players’ technical, tactical, physical, and mental competencies.
  • Collaborate with USTA Sectional staff and private coaches to ensure identified players receive continued developmental support within their home environments.
  • Support 13U national-level players in skill-based, game-centered environments aligned with ADM and Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles.
  • Integrate biomechanics, physical literacy, and psychological skill-building into training and competition environments.
  • Support the progression of players from 10U to 13U through consistent communication with private coaches and performance teams.
  • Guide the Sectional coaching staff to promote quality training and competition at local and regional levels.
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Head of Player ID & Development, to create and deliver educational content and workshops for parents, coaches, and Sectional staff focused on long-term development, competition readiness, and healthy sport culture.
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with Sectional leadership, private academies, and community-based programs to identify and nurture talent nationwide.
  • Represent the USTA at Sectional and National events, fostering collaboration and promoting shared player development goals.
  • Track player development data and camp outcomes using USTA’s performance monitoring systems.
  • Contribute insights to the Senior Director, Head of Player ID & Development for national reporting, resource allocation, and player progression planning.
  • Monitor developmental benchmarks and communicate progress summaries to players, coaches, and parents.
  • Collaborate with Sport Science, Coaching Education, and Competition staff to ensure holistic player development strategies.
  • Assist in aligning 13U initiatives with the broader Player Development pathway (10U–Transition).
  • Serve as a mentor and liaison between the USTA Coaching and Talent ID programs to align content, philosophy, and delivery.
  • Support the Senior Director, Head of Player ID & Development, in managing program logistics, communications, and administration related to camps, travel, and budget oversight
