About The Position

Reporting to the Vice President, Performance, Accountability and Funding Allocation, the Director will lead regional performance monitoring, accountability planning, risk management and funding allocation to support equitable outcomes, strong provider relationships and responsible stewardship of public resources. This role is regional in nature and pertinent to the needs of the East Region.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in health administration, health planning, business administration or a related field; or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience in a health care environment
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience including 5 years of experience leading, developing, and supporting teams via projects, programs and/or people leadership.
  • Senior level experience in complex and dynamic health care environments in the public and/or private sectors in finance with an expert understanding of one or more health care sectors.
  • Significant experience performing financial analyses and critical evaluations of complex financial programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with operational or strategic decision-making related to program funding.
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting performance data, including financial/statistical data and quality indicators.
  • In-depth understanding of the Ontario healthcare system, its stakeholders, programs and issues.
  • Experience in risk management and demonstrated capacity to identify and respond quickly to emerging issues and priorities.
  • Deep understanding of provincial funding models in use across one or more health-care sectors and familiarity with government financial processes, policies and standards.
  • Strong change management skills; able to focus priorities and drive for positive change; encourages and holds themselves and others accountable.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills, working effectively with other leaders and staff, and liaising with colleagues across Ontario Health and with contacts in the ministry.
  • Experience in effectively working collaboratively with the senior leadership team and staff to lead them through development, change, and transition.
  • Demonstrated understanding of local health issues, priorities and needs while recognizing the broader trends in health care policy and system development.
  • Demonstrated leadership in facilitation and negotiation with multiple stakeholders and service providers.
  • Proven ability to build, enhance and maintain strategic relationships with the community, local and provincial governments, health service providers and others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build and maintain strategic relations with diverse health service providers.
  • Effective communication skills including listening, writing, presenting, articulate conveyance of messages in an honest, open, transparent and straight-forward style.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing staff and work teams.

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is a strong asset
  • French language abilities is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead performance monitoring, accountability agreements and key indicators for health service providers, including Ministry-Ontario Health requirements.
  • Oversee funding allocation, reporting, and risk management processes that support transparent, evidence-informed decisions.
  • Negotiate performance plans and targets with providers, mobilize commitment to shared outcomes, and sustained improvement.
  • Build trusted relationships with health service providers, government partners, municipalities, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team while contributing to policies, tools and strategies that strengthen regional and cross-region consistency.
