About The Position

The Director, Patient-Centered Outcomes is a high-visibility scientific and strategic leadership role within Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ Global Evidence & Value Generation organization. Reporting to the Head of Patient-Centered Outcomes, this leader will develop and execute global clinical outcome assessment (COA), patient experience data (PED), and patient-reported outcome (PRO) strategies. The role leads patient-focused evidence strategies for oncology launch and lifecycle programs, including rare neuro-oncology and multiple solid tumor indications. It also shapes measurement strategies for early-phase pipeline assets, aligning them with Target Product Profiles. The position balances scientific rigor with commercial and market access timelines, demonstrating the humanistic value of Jazz therapies to health authorities, payers, clinicians, and patients worldwide. The Director leads regulatory strategy and label-supporting evidence; integrates COAs into clinical trials; oversees qualitative research, psychometric validation, and global eCOA/ePRO implementation; and explores digital health technologies and decentralized assessments. The role works across medical affairs, commercial, market access, biostatistics, clinical operations, development, regulatory affairs, and patient advocacy. It also manages external vendors and research partners, represents Jazz in scientific consortia, leads publications and presentations, and mentors junior scientists and fellows.

Requirements

  • At least 8–10+ years of dedicated experience in patient-centered outcomes, clinical outcome assessments, patient-reported outcomes, or HEOR within a global biopharmaceutical company or specialized consultancy.
  • Demonstrated success leading COA/PRO strategies for commercial launches, registrational oncology filings, or major lifecycle expansions in solid tumors and/or neuro-oncology.
  • Direct experience authoring regulatory briefing documents, engaging health authorities such as FDA, EMA, or PMDA, and applying FDA PFDD guidance to support label claims and review procedures.
  • Strong command of psychometric evaluation methods, mixed-methods research design, qualitative interviewing, and questionnaire development and validation.
  • Deep understanding of patient-reported evidence in global payer requirements, HTA methodologies, and commercial value narratives.
  • Hands-on experience directing global eCOA/ePRO trial operations, vendor management, and protocol integration.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex psychometric data and strategic rationales to executive leaders, commercial stakeholders, and regulatory panels.
  • Master’s degree (MS, MPH) or doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) in psychometrics, health outcomes research, health economics, epidemiology, public health, behavioral sciences, psychology, or a related quantitative or clinical discipline.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PharmD) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with oncology programs in solid tumors such as gastrointestinal, breast, or thoracic cancers and/or neuro-oncology.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end PRO and COA strategies for oncology launch indications and lifecycle expansion programs.
  • Design comparative patient-centered evidence strategies evaluating tolerability, quality of life, and physical deterioration relative to standard-of-care regimens.
  • Partner with Global Value & HEOR to incorporate PRO endpoints into cost-effectiveness models, joint clinical assessments, ICER submissions, and global value dossiers.
  • Partner with early development teams to map measurement landscapes, construct disease conceptual models, and establish COA roadmaps from Phase 1b through Phase 2.
  • Identify unmet patient-relevant needs early in development to inform Target Product Profiles, clinical protocols, and asset differentiation strategies.
  • Lead patient-centered outcomes work across regulatory milestones, including briefing documents, Type C meetings, FDA PFDD consultations, and EMA scientific advice procedures.
  • Apply FDA and EMA guidance to design endpoints that may support product labeling and differentiation.
  • Author and defend regulatory submission sections, clinical summaries, integrated summaries of efficacy, and COA evidence dossiers to support label claims.
  • Oversee concept elicitation, cognitive debriefing, psychometric validation, and translatability assessments across global studies.
  • Author COA sections in clinical trial protocols, Statistical Analysis Plans, and Clinical Study Reports.
  • Lead global eCOA/ePRO implementation, including instrument licensing, translation and linguistic validation, electronic migration testing, and site investigator training.
  • Explore and implement digital health technologies, wearable biometric sensors, and decentralized assessments to capture real-time physical function and performance outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary patient-centered outcomes strategic partner to medical affairs, commercial, pricing and market access, biostatistics, clinical operations, clinical development, and regulatory teams.
  • Partner with Global Patient Advocacy to incorporate patient and caregiver perspectives into protocols, endpoints, and disease-burden research.
