Director, Order to Cash

8am
$170,000 - $210,000

About The Position

We are seeking a strategic and operationally minded Director, Order to Cash to join our Accounting team. Reporting to the SVP, Corporate Controller, this role owns the end-to-end Order-to-Cash function — revenue operations, billing, collections, and payment settlements — for 8am. This role combines strategic process ownership with hands-on operational leadership. Reporting to our SVP, Corporate Controller, you'll take a function that already has strong revenue accounting and make it more scalable, more automated, and more connected to the rest of the business. The revenue function is a core part of this role's scope, not a secondary one, spanning both payments-based revenue and SaaS/subscription revenue. You will own processes end to end, build and develop high-performing teams, and lead initiatives that materially improve cash flow, customer and merchant experience, and efficiency across the business.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience leading billing, collections, payment operations, or revenue operations, ideally in fintech, payments, or SaaS.
  • Experience building and leading teams, including managing other people managers.
  • A track record of owning and improving end-to-end operational processes at scale, not just running the day-to-day.
  • Experience with payment processing, card networks, ACH, and payment processors like Stripe, TSYS, or Adyen.
  • Comfort with ERP, billing, and CRM systems such as Workday, Zuora, or Salesforce.
  • Strong analytical skills, advanced Excel, and hands-on experience using AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT to automate and improve your team's workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience; a CPA is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Revenue accounting exposure (ASC 606) across both SaaS/subscription revenue and payments/transaction-based revenue is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end billing, invoicing, collections, and payment settlement across our subscription and transaction-based revenue, including reconciliation of payment transactions and merchant settlements.
  • Lead operational oversight of the revenue function, covering both SaaS/subscription revenue and payments-based revenue, and partner with our Accounting Manager on ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Build a collections strategy that drives down aged receivables and improves recovery rates across customer and merchant segments.
  • Select and improve the billing, collections, and payment tools we use (Stripe, Workday, Salesforce, TSYS, Zuora), and build documented processes that cut manual work and error risk.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop a team of managers and specialists across billing, collections, and payment operations, and set the KPIs and service-level goals they're accountable to.
  • Act as the go-to partner for Sales, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, and Risk on anything related to billing, collections, and payments, and represent Order to Cash in pricing and product decisions.
  • Maintain strong internal controls across billing, collections, and settlements, and support audit and compliance work with our Assistant Controller.
  • Champion AI adoption across the team, using it to speed up close and reconciliation, cut manual work, and improve forecasting.
