About The Position

Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church is seeking a full-time Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. This role is responsible for leading and directing Middle School (grades 5-6), Jr. High (grades 7-8), and High School (grades 8-12) Youth Ministry Programs under the PAX Youth umbrella, as well as Young Adult (ages 18-35) Initiatives. The Director will support the PAX Youth team, develop a dynamic middle school program, and implement an innovative approach to forming youth into disciples of Christ. Additionally, the role involves developing a comprehensive Christian life development program for young adults (ages 18-35), including college, career, single, and married individuals, with the goal of coaching them toward Christ-like maturity. This position collaborates with other Pastoral Team members on youth faith formation and ensures continuity with the Order of Christian Initiation process. The Director's behavior must align with the church's core values: Fundamentally Relational, Mission Driven, Innovatively Excellent, and Radically Hospitable. The position extends the ministry of the Pastor and involves engaging in ministry for the Church.

Requirements

Knowledge of the structure and basic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Knowledge of ministry of catechesis.
Skill in communicating with diverse audiences both oral and written.
Ability to operate various word-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs.
Ability to excel in professional relationships and work effectively with staff, clergy, and laity.
Ability to organize, prioritize, carry out multiple tasks, meet deadlines and utilize effective time management techniques.
Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
Ability to follow instructions furnished in verbal or written format.
Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in theology, religious education, pastoral ministry, or a related field is preferred.
Experience in pastoral ministry is preferred.

Responsibilities

Continuing and enhancing the current PAX Youth program, embracing the Ablaze model of youth ministry.
Overseeing the development and implementation of the Confirmation Program, including formation, retreat, and liturgical celebration.
Providing vision, formation, and collaboration for adult and youth volunteers overseeing high school youth ministry.
Building middle school and junior high programs, as well as young adult ministry.
Developing a comprehensive ministry plan involving regular gatherings, ministry nights, seasonal events, retreats, service opportunities, and mission trips for youth and young adults.
Supporting and upholding the teachings of the Catholic Church and the mission of the parish.
Acting as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
Continuously growing in ministry through ongoing professional and personal faith formation.
Ensuring compliance with all Archdiocese of New Orleans policies and procedures, including Safe Environment protocols.
Participating in parish staff and diocesan meetings and trainings.
Maintaining a work schedule that maximizes availability and accessibility.
Enhancing and building upon the current model of high school (8-12 grade) ministry, with formation, community building, and leadership formation.
Working collaboratively with the Director of Children's Formation and the Catholic School on creating a vibrant middle school (5-6) and junior high (7-8) youth program.
Collaborating with the Catholic School and the Dean of Christian Formation in the development of 5th, 6th, and 7th grade school retreats and other initiatives.
Overseeing a comprehensive preparation program for the sacrament of Confirmation and coordinating its liturgical celebration.
Providing appropriate training for adults and young people in leadership positions.
Fostering the involvement of young people in the life of the parish.
Coordinating outreach to and evangelization of all young people in the parish.
Recruiting, training, and providing support for Youth Ministry volunteers.
Collaborating with the Director of Evangelization, Engagement, and Adult Formation on enhancing Young Adult Ministry.
