About The Position

The Director of Workforce Development is responsible for the overall development and management of employment-related services. This includes, but not limited to, vocational education, soft skill training, career assistance and supportive services. The position works with external and internal stakeholders to execute on approaches to hard and soft skill development targeted to high barrier populations, that fill gaps in industries with a high potential for living wage job placements and career advancement. The Director will build upon the agency’s approach to creating viable social enterprises related to areas of training focus, to support operations. As a member of the senior leadership team, the Director ensures the alignment of the Workforce Development Department activities to the overall organizational strategic goals and mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline required
  • Minimum three years of experience in a management level position
  • A working knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of poverty and barriers faced by persons experiencing homelessness; unemployed/ underemployed; current or previous involvement in the criminal justice system; and with mental health or addiction histories
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License and proof of insurance, required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in vocational education, job training or employment services preferred
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing start up projects/businesses

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate and implement vocational training programs that meet accreditation standards and that address the specific needs of high-barrier populations
  • Oversee operations of all training and social enterprise initiatives, and ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, licensing and accrediting bodies
  • Develop and implement department annual work plan
  • Establish and maintain key partnerships and collaborations with related service providers, government entities, and employers
  • Provide external monitoring and internal communication of workforce industry trends; Connect to markets or local and regional workforce channels
  • Lead in data driven program improvements
  • Develop annual budget, meet financial performance benchmarks, and adjust strategy when needed
  • Execute business plans for social enterprises including marketing strategies
  • Responsible for operating fund development in coordination with the Development & Communications Department
  • Work with the advisory committee for subject matter guidance and support
  • Provide reports to the LMM Board of Directors and its committees as directed
  • Ensure maintenance of accreditation, certification and licensure standards for vocational training and workforce development activities
  • Manage contracts with external vendors and oversee compliance with contracts
