Senior Web Director

Solace Corporation

About The Position

Solace is seeking a Director of Web to own solace.com as both a technical asset and a business driver. The role sits at the intersection of engineering, marketing, and design, combining technical understanding of site code and performance with commercial insight into conversion funnels. The Director of Web will bring content, design, and development work together to create a site that performs, operating the web like a product with a roadmap, backlog, clear ownership, and ongoing measurement. As product owner for the website, this person will work with product marketing, Marketing Operations, and other stakeholders, and lead the site's SEO and AEO agenda. This is a hands-on role on a lean team, with meaningful ownership and an emphasis on guiding and influencing rather than adding process or blocking work. The role focuses on scoping, prioritization, and coordination rather than writing site copy, designing pages, or building the site. The Director of Web will manage and prioritize requests, establish web standards and guardrails, coordinate development and releases, shape SEO and AEO plans, report on web performance across Sales and PLG funnels, and partner across marketing, content, design, and engineering. The role also includes running A/B tests or landing-page experiments on high-traffic pages, with scope to expand this responsibility as the roadmap matures.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of experience in a strategic web-focused role with understanding of the entire web development workflow.
  • B2B SaaS experience.
  • Ability to move quickly and prioritize without heavy process overhead.
  • Working technical fluency in HTML/CSS and familiarity with modern web platforms such as WordPress or similar.
  • Enough familiarity with development workflows to contribute or troubleshoot when needed.
  • Strong understanding of web performance fundamentals, including page speed and Core Web Vitals.
  • Understanding of technical SEO, including log file analysis.
  • Experience acting as a web product manager, including scoping tickets, supporting QA, and shepherding releases with internal or agency developers.
  • Experience reporting on funnel performance across sales-led and PLG motions, including flows where the role owns only part of the journey.
  • Track record of using analytics, funnel metrics, or A/B testing to drive measurable conversion improvements.
  • Experience managing a roadmap and competing stakeholder priorities, including triaging intake and prioritizing by impact versus effort.
  • Experience working closely with product marketing and product teams to understand strategic direction and translate it into web priorities.
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills.
  • Comfort operating as both an individual contributor and a cross-functional coordinator.
  • Clear communication skills, including translating technical issues for non-technical stakeholders and business goals for technical stakeholders.
  • Self-directed and biased toward action.
  • Ability to influence without authority by setting standards and raising flags rather than blocking work.
  • Senior presence to represent web confidently and participate with product marketing, Marketing Operations, and other leaders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment is strongly preferred.
  • Depth in either the technical or non-technical side of SEO; the company will pair the hire with resources to cover the other side.
  • Working knowledge of AI visibility tracking and how AEO differs from traditional SEO.

Responsibilities

  • Run intake and triage for web requests across marketing, sales, product, and leadership; log, size, and sequence requests.
  • Recommend a quarterly web roadmap based on impact versus effort, balancing SEO/AEO opportunities, conversion work, technical debt, and stakeholder requests.
  • Communicate prioritization trade-offs, including what is in scope, what comes next, and what is deferred.
  • Own solace.com as its product owner and steward standards for performance, Core Web Vitals, site architecture, and SEO foundations.
  • Monitor the effects of site changes on performance and flag significant metric changes or risks.
  • Scope and write development tickets with clear requirements and acceptance criteria for internal and agency developers.
  • Support QA and releases by validating work before launch and confirming its performance after launch.
  • Partner with internal or agency development resources to prioritize and ship fixes and improvements; manage external web development vendors or agencies as needed.
  • Contribute hands-on to technical work when that is the fastest path, while focusing primarily on scoping and prioritization.
  • Help shape SEO and AEO strategy with content and agency partners and turn it into an executable plan.
  • Use technical SEO audits, log file analysis, and AI visibility tracking to identify issues and opportunities and feed them into the roadmap.
  • Report on web impact across Sales and PLG funnels, including traffic, conversion rate, page performance, and funnel drop-off.
  • Partner with Marketing Operations and teams responsible for other funnel stages to build a connected, trustworthy view of the customer journey.
  • Represent web in planning and campaign conversations through regular check-ins with product marketing, Marketing Operations, and other marketing stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with content and design contributors to plan, sequence, and launch pages, campaigns, and site updates without drafting copy or design comps.
  • Connect marketing, content, design, and engineering so web work proceeds efficiently and handoffs do not stall.
  • Translate business and campaign goals into website strategy and apply a B2B SaaS perspective to converting visitors into pipeline.
  • Run A/B tests or landing-page experiments per month on the highest-trafficked pages; this is a lighter-touch responsibility initially, with room to grow as the roadmap matures.

Benefits

  • Hybrid-first work flexibility.
  • Training programs designed to support professional growth.
  • A stated emphasis on work-life balance.
