About The Position

The Bridge offers supportive housing and behavioral health services to vulnerable New Yorkers facing behavioral health and substance use challenges. We provide individuals with the tools they need to pursue their dreams and live meaningful lives. The Bridge envisions a world where adults experiencing serious mental illness can live and thrive within their communities. As a recognized leader in developing and operating supportive housing and community-based programs, The Bridge has 70 years of experience helping New Yorkers with mental illness, including those affected by homelessness, incarceration, and institutionalization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least three years of experience in volunteer management or internal and external relations is required.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft applications and Raiser’s Edge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the agency’s volunteer and internship programs.
  • Place interns and volunteers in appropriate openings across the agency by working with senior staff to determine internal needs.
  • Train interns and volunteers or ensure they have access to appropriate training.
  • Plan and oversee volunteer days and appreciation events.
  • Regularly visit program locations for site visits, meetings, and volunteer activities.
  • Attend outreach events and information sessions, including internship fairs.
  • Build strong relationships with field placement offices, corporate volunteer programs, and other relevant partners.
  • Support internal and external communications efforts to foster stakeholder engagement.
  • Support public relations and grant-writing efforts.
  • Develop and prepare communications materials in coordination with agency senior staff.
  • Plan and promote agency-wide events.
  • Oversee The Bridge’s Junior Board.
  • Support the Junior Board in its mission to raise awareness and funds for the agency.
  • Attend and help organize related volunteer and fundraising events.
  • Provide C-suite-level executive support.
  • Provide administrative support to the CEO.
  • Liaise with the Board of Directors and attend meetings as required.
