About The Position

Crain Automotive is seeking a highly analytical and operationally minded leader to oversee new vehicle ordering, inventory management, allocation strategy, and vehicle distribution across our dealership network. This position is responsible for ensuring that the right vehicles are in the right markets at the right time. The ideal candidate is an exceptional problem solver who enjoys working with data, forecasting demand, managing logistics, and making strategic decisions that impact millions of dollars in inventory. Automotive experience is welcome, but it is not required. We are more interested in finding someone with strong analytical abilities, operational intelligence, and a proven track record of making sound business decisions.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • AI literacy and the ability to leverage tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar technologies to enhance analysis, forecasting, and decision-making process
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and data analysis
  • Ability to interpret large amounts of information and make sound business decisions
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive experience
  • Experience in supply chain management, logistics, inventory planning, operations management, forecasting, retail planning, distribution, industrial engineering, or automotive inventory management is preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute inventory strategies across all Crain Automotive dealerships
  • Manage factory vehicle ordering and allocation processes
  • Analyze market trends, sales performance, inventory turn rates, and aging reports
  • Identify opportunities to move inventory between dealerships to maximize sales velocity and profitability
  • Work closely with General Managers and Sales Managers to maintain optimal inventory levels
  • Monitor incoming shipments and coordinate inventory distribution throughout the organization
  • Create and maintain reporting related to inventory performance, aging units, days supply, and turn rates
  • Develop forecasting models to anticipate future inventory needs by market and franchise
  • Evaluate dealer trade opportunities and vehicle acquisition strategies
  • Continuously improve inventory management processes through data analysis and operational efficiencies
