About The Position

The Director of Training is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the organization's behavioral health training and workforce development program. This position ensures that employees receive the knowledge, skills, competencies, supervision, and ongoing professional development necessary to provide ethical, evidence-based, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, person-centered, and clinically appropriate behavioral health services. The Training Director oversees training across substance use disorder (SUD), mental health, co-occurring disorders, residential, outpatient, medication-assisted treatment/MOUD, case management, peer services, and other applicable programs. The Training Director works collaboratively with Chief Clinical Officer, clinical leadership, human resources, quality improvement, medical staff, program directors, supervisors, and subject-matter experts to identify workforce training needs and ensure that training activities support organizational strategic priorities, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and quality-of-care outcomes.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Addiction Counseling, Public Health, or Organizational Development.
  • Possess one of the following licenses: LPC, LCSW, LMFT, PSYCH.
  • Minimum of 7 years of behavioral health treatment experience, including: SUD treatment, Mental health treatment, Co-occurring disorders, Clinical supervision, Staff training, Curriculum development, Quality improvement, Regulatory compliance, Program management.

Nice To Haves

  • CAS or LAC license.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible training, clinical education, supervision, or leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and oversee a comprehensive organizational behavioral health training program.
  • Develop competency-based training objectives and establish competency standards for critical clinical and operational functions.
  • Develop knowledge tests, skills demonstrations, case studies, simulations, role plays, and other competency assessments.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to determine whether employees are able to independently perform assigned duties.
  • Establish annual training priorities based on: Regulatory requirements, Accreditation standards, Clinical practice requirements, Quality improvement findings, Incident and complaint trends, Chart audit findings, Employee competency assessments, Changes in evidence-based practices, Organizational strategic priorities.
  • Establish standardized onboarding, orientation, annual, remedial, and specialized training requirements.
  • Ensure training requirements are clearly defined by position, program, level of care, and scope of practice.
  • Develop and coordinate training related to behavioral health practice, including, as applicable: Substance use disorder treatment, Mental health treatment, Co-occurring disorders, Trauma-informed care, Person-centered treatment planning, Evidence-based behavioral interventions, Group therapy facilitation, Individual therapy, Crisis intervention and de-escalation, Harm reduction, Recovery-oriented systems of care, Medication-assisted treatment/MOUD, Medication safety and diversion prevention, Clinical documentation, ASAM Criteria and level-of-care principles, Cultural responsiveness and health equity, Professional ethics and boundaries, Confidentiality and privacy requirements, Telehealth practices, Case management and care coordination.
