Director of Technology | $150K-$175K + Remote + Bonus + Profit Sharing | Technology-Driven Freight Forwarder
About The Position
This is a fully remote role for a Director of Technology & Digital Transformation within a technology-driven freight forwarder. The company is investing heavily in its internal technology ecosystem to improve visibility, automation, and decision-making across global logistics operations. The role is focused on leading the evolution of the technology ecosystem to support the company’s next phase of growth. It is a hands-on technology leadership role within a logistics and freight forwarding business, focused on improving real-world operational workflows across shipments, finance, and client experience. The company is currently undergoing a digital transformation, including transitioning from a legacy TMS to a modern system and further developing its Salesforce-centered environment. This role is not a traditional CIO or enterprise IT leadership role, nor is it focused on infrastructure, cybersecurity, governance, pure strategy, or solely managing vendors/teams. It is for a hands-on builder who has designed and improved systems within a logistics or freight forwarding environment, comfortable operating across both strategy and execution.
Requirements
- 7-12+ years of experience in technology leadership, digital transformation, or business systems within operational environments.
- Strong experience with enterprise SaaS ecosystems, systems architecture, and integrations.
- Experience working within Salesforce, primarily from an integration and systems perspective (not pure administration or development).
- Experience leading technology transformation / digital transformation in lean environments.
- Demonstrated success driving change management and user adoption across teams.
- Experience designing and managing integrations across multiple systems.
- Experience working within logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain environments.
- Exposure to international freight operations, such as ocean, air, and multi-leg shipments.
- Experience designing, building, or improving systems within logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain operations.
- Strong ability to translate business needs into scalable system solutions.
- Proven ability to operate in a lean, hands-on environment.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the company’s technology roadmap.
- Identify and implement opportunities to apply automation, AI, and data-driven decision support across operational workflows.
- Own and evolve system architecture to support operational efficiency and scalability.
- Design and manage integrations across systems that support logistics operations, finance, and customer workflows.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives across the organization.
- Drive end-to-end change management for system implementations and enhancements.
- Develop and execute strategies to ensure strong user adoption across operational teams.
- Ensure systems are reliable, secure, and capable of supporting business growth.
- Lead and mentor a small internal technology team.
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership.
- Occasionally engage with clients on technical capabilities and system-driven improvements.
