About The Position

Inhabit is seeking a senior technical product leader to guide the next generation of insurance technology capabilities across the insurance division. This role connects business strategy with practical product execution, helping translate operational needs, customer expectations, compliance considerations, and platform opportunities into clear product direction. The Director, Technical Product - Insurance will work across insurance operations, engineering, architecture, data, support, QA, and business leadership to shape priorities, clarify requirements, guide delivery decisions, and ensure technology investments improve speed, accuracy, scalability, and user experience, and partner with cross-functional teams to support go-to-market planning, launch readiness, adoption, and post-launch performance. The ideal candidate brings strong product judgment, technical and AI fluency, insurance domain knowledge, and the ability to lead through influence in a fast-moving environment with competing priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, engineering, business, or a related field, OR equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical product management, product ownership, product analysis, business systems analysis, or a related technology delivery role.
  • Proven ability to lead product work for SaaS platforms, internal business applications, customer-facing tools, policy systems, or other enterprise technology solutions.
  • Experience using modern product and AI-assisted development tools, including Aha! for roadmap planning, prioritization, and requirements management, and Cursor or similar tools for prototyping, technical validation, and collaboration with engineering.
  • Experience building product plans, managing delivery priorities, and working with cross-functional teams to turn business needs into usable technology outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of software delivery practices and Agile ways of working, including backlog management, refinement, sprint planning, requirement definition, testing support, and release coordination.
  • Ability to write clear product requirements that explain the problem, desired outcome, user impact, scope, dependencies, acceptance expectations, and operational considerations.
  • Comfortable working with technical teams on topics such as integrations, data movement, system permissions, workflow automation, platform configuration, APIs, environments, and production support.
  • Strong insurance business acumen, including familiarity with admitted and non-admitted products, policy administration processes, underwriting workflows, regulatory considerations, or related insurance operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information from multiple sources, including stakeholder input, user behavior, operational reporting, production issues, and support feedback, to make sound product decisions.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics, present options, explain risks, and build alignment across business and technical groups.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, dependencies, stakeholders, and timelines without losing focus on business outcomes.
  • Practical, solutions-oriented approach to problem solving, with good judgment when evaluating competing priorities, implementation risks, and delivery trade-offs.
  • Ability to work effectively with remote and geographically distributed teams.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for business workshops, customer discussions, team sessions, training, feedback meetings, or implementation support.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft tools, Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, SharePoint, product analytics, workflow platforms, reporting tools, or similar systems is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Set product direction for assigned insurance technology platforms by converting business goals, operational pain points, compliance requirements, and user feedback into an actionable product plan.
  • Maintain a clear view of near-term delivery priorities and longer-term platform needs, balancing growth initiatives, system stability, regulatory obligations, process improvement, usability, and technical constraints.
  • Partner with insurance programs, technology, data, support, and operational leaders to understand workflow challenges, evaluate solution options, and make practical recommendations that improve the business.
  • Lead discovery and intake efforts by gathering input from internal and external users, business leaders, support trends, operational reporting, and platform performance to identify where technology can create the greatest value.
  • Convert complex business needs into delivery-ready requirements, including clear scope, expected outcomes, user impacts, dependencies, acceptance expectations, and implementation considerations.
  • Manage the product backlog with a disciplined approach to prioritization, ensuring the team is focused on work that delivers meaningful business, customer, compliance, or operational benefit.
  • Work closely with engineering, architecture, QA, UX, analytics, and operations to evaluate feasibility, resolve ambiguity, remove blockers, and support high-quality execution.
  • Facilitate decision-making across stakeholders when priorities conflict, trade-offs are required, or additional clarity is needed to move work forward.
  • Communicate product priorities, delivery status, risks, upcoming releases, and business impacts in a clear and concise manner for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leverage AI to both optimize the product delivery workflow and bring AI innovation into the client experience within our applications
  • Use product performance data, adoption trends, production issues, user feedback, and operational metrics to assess whether solutions are working and where additional iteration is needed.
  • Support release planning and readiness by coordinating communications, training inputs, documentation, support preparation, validation needs, and post-launch follow-up.
  • Help guide pilots, phased rollouts, or targeted testing efforts when appropriate, using results to refine requirements, improve adoption, and reduce implementation risk.
  • Serve as a trusted product partner to designated business areas by creating alignment, setting realistic expectations, and helping teams understand how technology changes affect day-to-day workflows.
  • Promote adoption of new capabilities by working with business leaders, support teams, and end users to prepare for process, role, or system changes.
  • Partner closely with Product Marketing, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Support, and other cross-functional teams to develop and execute go-to-market plans for new products and capabilities, including positioning, launch readiness, enablement, communications, adoption, and post-launch performance.
  • Define product direction for APIs, integrations, embedded insurance experiences, partner connectivity, and shared platform capabilities that support scalable insurance distribution and operations.
