About The Position

As a Technical Marketing Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, you will play a key role in providing detailed technical information to our partners, customers, and our employees. You will work with cutting-edge technology, redefining the future of network security. You will perform competitive analysis, perform technical gap analysis and support the product management in identifying next-generation innovations. This person will be a Cloud / Multi-Cloud Security SME who can bridge deep technical expertise with strong storytelling. The ideal candidate should be comfortable building labs in the cloud/Hyperscaler environments, able to think out of the box to build strong customer demos for multiple use cases, deploying firewall and security architectures, troubleshooting complex networking issues, owning the product betas and enabling field teams. This role requires a strong foundation in firewall architectures in the cloud, cloud networking, routing fabric, automation, and technical communication. This is a critical customer facing role within the company and one where the right person can have significant impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Marketing Engineer for network/cybersecurity area or a DevOps/Solution Architect, preferably for networking or security products
  • Experience and Good domain knowledge with Multi-cloud deployments
  • Good understanding of cyber security solutions such as NGFW, Layer 7 visibility, SSL decryption, Zerotrust Architecture
  • Solid foundation in networking fundamentals, including routing protocols, BGP, static routing, NAT/PAT, IPsec, GRE, load balancing, switching concepts, DNS, and traffic steering.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as python, CFT, and Terraform is highly desired
  • Knowledge in building and maintaining POC & Demo environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong presentation skills and trade show experience
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies, experiment with products and collaborate cross-functionally
  • Strong customer advocacy skills and experience, ability to work in difficult customer situations
  • Work towards getting things done, Fast learner with strong initiative and sense of ownership
  • Deep understanding of network and application security threats, attack techniques, and mitigation options.
  • Experience with writing and editing technical documentation and operational procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multi-cloud security architectures spanning AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI, or private cloud environments.
  • Experience with cloud network security insertion patterns, including service chaining, centralized inspection, distributed inspection, ingress/egress inspection, east-west inspection, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
  • Familiarity with cloud security frameworks and concepts such as Zero Trust, least privilege, segmentation, cloud posture, identity-based access, and workload protection.
  • Experience with demo automation, synthetic traffic generation, attack simulation, packet capture, logging, dashboards, and validation workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, CNIs, service mesh, or container security is a plus.
  • Familiarity with AI security, runtime protection, API security, or securing AI application traffic is a plus.
  • Experience working with field teams to create enablement assets, competitive battlecards, objection handling guides, and technical validation content.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, constantly refine, and execute the technical marketing plan
  • Be responsible for the creation, maintenance, and delivery of effective technical tools, whitepapers, demos, videos and technical training for sales, customers, and partners.
  • Lead the automation within and across the cross-functional teams and strive to achieve technical and operational excellence in every step of the releases.
  • Lead the competitive research and testing to identify key competitive advantages of our product lines and deliver them to sales, customers, and partners
  • Be a key technical evangelist for Palo Alto Networks, speaking at seminars, conferences, customer briefings, and with other groups within the company
  • Work with engineering in identifying product gaps based on competitive analysis and work with the PM to drive enhancements to bridge them.
  • Be the domain authority on Palo Alto Networks products to help Systems Engineers with information on competitive questions
  • Identify Sales challenges based on any competitive situations and provide solutions
  • Document technical concepts to ensure our products are well understood and utilized to the greatest extent possible
  • Setup and maintain a competitive test lab including test harness, competitive products, automation environment, etc.
  • Configure and test competitive products, evaluate product strengths for security efficacy, product features, etc.
  • Work with marketing to develop collaterals with battle cards, presentations, and white papers.
