About The Position

A tertiary care teaching hospital and Level II Trauma Center is seeking a Director of Surgical Services to provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for its surgical services department. This position supports a comprehensive surgical program while partnering with hospital leadership, physicians, and clinical teams to promote safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care Director of Surgical Services experience required.
• Several years of OR Manager experience in a large trauma center may be considered.
• Bachelor's degree or other approved education plan required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall operational and financial leadership for the Surgical Services department.
• Oversee nursing practice, daily operations, and clinical standards to ensure patient and family care needs are consistently assessed and addressed.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and evidence-based practices that support patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage patient flow, volume forecasting, throughput initiatives, and operational planning to improve department efficiency.
• Monitor and manage clinical practice variation to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
• Collaborate with physicians and administrative leaders to strengthen existing surgical programs and identify opportunities for service line growth.
• Oversee labor management, staffing plans, productivity, supply utilization, and equipment expenditures.
