About The Position

The Director of Support and Giving serves as a strategic fundraising and relationship management leader responsible for advancing philanthropic growth, donor stewardship, sponsorship development, and community engagement initiatives that support the long-term sustainability and mission impact of PTSD Foundation of America. This role partners with Executive Leadership and organizational stakeholders to strengthen donor relationships, increase philanthropic support, expand organizational visibility, and support strategic growth initiatives. The Director of Support and Giving provides leadership and oversight of fundraising operations, donor stewardship activities, sponsorship development, community engagement initiatives, and organizational events. The position collaborates closely with organizational leadership, Development, Marketing and Communications, Finance, Compliance, community partners, vendors, staff, and Board members to support fundraising success, operational accountability, and mission advancement while maintaining professionalism, stewardship integrity, and organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, development, or related experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership, management, or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience leading fundraising initiatives, donor engagement activities, sponsorship development, or community partnerships preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing teams, organizational initiatives, or fundraising activities preferred.
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational, strategic planning, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service, donor engagement, and community relations skills.
  • Metrics-driven mindset with ability to track KPIs and operational performance outcomes.

  • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising principles, donor stewardship practices, and organizational accountability standards.
  • Understanding of ethical fundraising expectations, donor confidentiality practices, and professional stewardship responsibilities.
  • General understanding of Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs), community partnership agreements, sponsorship relationships, and charitable fundraising collaboration practices.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit operational and fundraising practices associated with charitable organizations operating under IRS 501(c)(3) guidelines.
  • General knowledge of cause marketing and Commercial Co-Venture (CCV) concepts, sponsorship activities, and donor stewardship expectations associated with nonprofit fundraising environments.
  • Must collaborate effectively across departments including Finance, Compliance, Marketing, President, and Development teams.
  • Must maintain professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment while handling sensitive donor, financial, organizational, and operational information.
  • Understanding of documentation standards, internal controls, and operational accountability practices associated with nonprofit fundraising and donor engagement activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct donor meetings and relationship-building activities to cultivate meaningful donor and community partnerships.
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership to support fundraising infrastructure, donor engagement initiatives, sponsorship opportunities, and strategic growth efforts.
  • Develop annual fundraising goals, donor engagement objectives, stewardship initiatives, retention strategies, and departmental performance measures.
  • Expand and diversify donor contributions while identifying opportunities for organizational sustainability and growth.
  • Support major gifts, sponsorship initiatives, grant-related activities, and strategic partnership development.
  • Oversee pledge tracking, donor stewardship activities, and adherence to donor agreements and fundraising documentation standards.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of donor records utilizing approved CRM and organizational systems.
  • Coordinate with Finance regarding donation reconciliation, event revenue tracking, fundraising documentation, internal controls, and budget oversight.
  • Research funding trends, donor opportunities, and philanthropic developments to support long-term organizational sustainability.
  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for fundraising events, sponsorship activities, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with community partners, vendors, sponsors, staff, and Board members to support successful fundraising and outreach activities.
  • Supervise, support, and develop assigned staff and departmental operations.
  • Assist with development of departmental KPIs, fundraising metrics, donor engagement reporting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Support ethical fundraising, donor stewardship, and community engagement practices consistent with organizational policies and nonprofit operational standards.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Compliance departments to support accountability, transparency, documentation accuracy, and internal control practices associated with fundraising operations and sponsorship activities.
  • Participate in departmental policy reviews, operational assessments, procedural improvement initiatives, and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Assist with development and reinforcement of departmental training initiatives involving donor stewardship, confidentiality, documentation standards, fundraising integrity, and professional engagement expectations.
  • Promote adherence to organizational standards involving donor confidentiality, sponsorship management, restricted funds, documentation integrity, and stewardship accountability.
  • Identify and communicate operational concerns, documentation inconsistencies, process improvement opportunities, or stewardship-related risks to leadership as appropriate.
  • Professionally represent PTSD Foundation of America in donor, sponsor, vendor, community, and public-facing environments while supporting the organization’s reputation, mission, and operational standards.
  • Coordinate with approved vendors, sponsors, and community partners in alignment with organizational procedures and approval requirements.
  • Participate in organizational events, donor engagements, and community activities, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality involving donor, financial, veteran, and organizational information.
  • No independent authority to bind the organization contractually or financially unless specifically authorized by PTSD Foundation of America President.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Support and promote fundraising, donor engagement, sponsorship, and community outreach initiatives aligned with PTSD Foundation of America’s mission, organizational culture, and veteran-focused service programs.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications to support mission-centered fundraising campaigns, community awareness initiatives, sponsorship activities, and public engagement efforts consistent with the organization’s faith-based veteran service environment.
  • Assist with development and implementation of fundraising and marketing strategies that strengthen donor relationships, community partnerships, organizational visibility, and long-term sustainability.
  • Promote organizational messaging, events, and engagement activities in a manner that reflects PTSD FOA’s commitment to serving combat veterans and their families through compassionate, recovery-oriented, and mission-driven services.
  • Support mission-aligned relationship development with donors, sponsors, community organizations, and strategic partners while maintaining professionalism, stewardship accountability, and organizational standards.
  • Assist with fostering a culture of philanthropy, collaboration, service leadership, and respectful engagement throughout fundraising and community partnership activities.
