About The Position

The Director, Supply Chain will provide hands-on leadership to the combined Supply Chain organization within a high-energy, customer- and mission-focused environment at Stellant System’s flagship facility in Torrance, California. Focus will be on the primary responsibilities of setting strategic vision for the supply chain group, developing people and leading a high-performing team, driving continuous improvement and sustainable execution of operating metrics (material availability, supplier OTD, supplier quality, material cost out and PPV, project EACs and government compliance measures). Results will be accomplished using a data-driven approach to achieve process standardization and the deployment of and accountability for rigorous standard work across the Supply Chain team. This role interfaces cross-functionally across the Stellant Systems organization and will coordinate with Operations/Manufacturing, Program Management, Finance, Mission Assurance/Quality, Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering functions. The ideal candidate will come from the Aerospace and Defense industry and have a track record of demonstrated success leading change and driving results in both people and culture while simultaneously driving quantifiable improvements in operating metrics. Abilities to lead the team to establish systematic processes and manage in a fast-paced, high-mix environment are vital. Pre-existing relationships across the aerospace and defense industrial base supporting defense electronics manufacturing will be critical to success of the Director, Supply Chain at Stellant Systems.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree is required (Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or Operations Management is preferred).
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience in a Supply Chain, Sourcing or Procurement functional capacity with emphasis on Space, Aerospace and/or Defense end-use products.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Supply Chain, Sourcing or Procurement leadership/management/supervisory role.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a DoD/Government contracting environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Government procurement regulations (FAR/DFARS).
  • Experience dealing with DCMA, DCAA and other federal audit agencies.
  • Experience with ERP and associated tools.
  • Experience leading and driving a SIOP process.
  • Experience working proposals or front-end business activities.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical background.
  • Ability to travel, as required (25%).
  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S. (e.g. Green Card holder), or a protected individual as defined by the International Traffic in Arm Regulations (ITAR).

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree in Supply Chain is an advantage.
  • Experience working within a project-based accounting structure.
  • Experience with Infor LN ERP.
  • A background within, and understanding of, Traveling Wave Tube (TWT) products, radio frequency (RF) systems and defense electronics products is an advantage.
  • Background in the development/LRIP manufacturing efforts is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high quality and focus on the details.
  • The ability to work in a fast-moving environment under tight schedules and coordinate multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as key leader of the Supply Chain professionals in the organization providing leadership and strategy execution.
  • Lead, engage and continuously develop all team members.
  • Establish a strong working relationship with the team members, to foster a “one team” approach to success of the business.
  • Meet functional requirements of staffing, training, talent development, engagement, retention, and overall management of area of responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain effective and clearly defined training plans for areas of responsibility, creating redundancy across all functions of Supply Chain.
  • Meet functional organization and business annual operating plan targets.
  • Analyze the supply base and make quick decisions to drive rapid improvement in KPIs.
  • Lead Supply Chain processes to ensure tools, processes, and staff are competitive and applicable to the business needs. Develop Supply Chain improvement roadmap and timelines.
  • Support pursuits and proposals in the business, including review/approval and the generation of production schedules to support proposal efforts and Basis of Estimates (BOEs) as needed.
  • Communicate strategies broadly to expedite adoption and institutionalization of best practices.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on Supply Chain projects, tools and systems.
  • Deliver progress and production reports to executive team members routinely and as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
