About The Position

The Director of Student Success and Advising participates in the overall leadership and management of College of Education advising. Incumbent leads a team of professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive access and retention support services for prospective and current students participating in College of Education academic programs. The incumbent will promote practices that help position the Student Success Team to identify and meet students’ needs, match students to campus resources, and amplify students’ assets.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in higher education, student development, student affairs, counseling or related field and 5 years of related experience required.
  • Strong understanding of shared governance within an educational environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively respond to complex inquiries from a wide range of stakeholders, including the public, residents, parents, prospective students, university employees, and students.
  • Proven ability to ensure compliance with state and university policies and procedures.
  • Ability to foster positive and collaborative working relationships across all organizational levels, both within and outside the university.
  • Skilled in analyzing complex information, situations, practices, and procedures to accurately identify problems, evaluate relevant factors, and develop effective solutions while understanding their broader implications.
  • Experience in supervising, motivating, and developing staff.
  • Demonstrated success working responsively and respectfully within a diverse, multicultural, and inclusive campus community.
  • Committed to upholding all university policies, procedures, and standards related to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination.

Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive, holistic, and culturally responsive student advising and support services in the College of Education to enhance the academic, personal, and career success of current and prospective students. Collaborate with other college and university units to coordinate efforts in maximizing student success.
  • Oversee effective management of all activities and program operations in the college Student Success and Advising Center, including personnel, daily operations, advising services, administrative functions, retention, timely program completion, and collaborations with the Career Development Center and Financial Aid. Facilitates an environment that motivates, empowers, and inspires commitment from employees, while advancing a culture of care.
  • Organize, attend, or chair a variety of administrative and staff meetings as required; serve on internal and external committees and special projects; active in developing successful partnerships to support academic programs.
