About The Position

This role is responsible for leading staff and sustaining a student-ready culture that promotes collaboration, innovation, excellence, and integrity in student development, enrollment management, academic advising, and campus engagement. In collaboration with the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Director provides vision, leadership, and strategic direction for student support services as well as promotes initiatives that enable the delivery of effective and quality service to students.

Requirements

Master's Degree
Five (5) years' working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements in a higher education or university setting
Three (3) years' experience supervising (e.g., managing, evaluating the performance of others; leading projects or processes)

Nice To Haves

Doctoral degree in Higher Education, Educational Leadership, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a closely related field
At least one (1) year's working experience at a community college related to the Essential Performance Requirements
Two (2) years' working experience in providing leadership for academic advising or a comprehensive advising/student success operation, including areas such as degree planning, case management, pathway-based advising, academic progress, student referrals, or proactive advising interventions
Three (3) years' of leadership experience in higher education, including experience supervising professional staff and overseeing the operations of a department or functional area

Responsibilities

Assists and advises the Vice President of Student Affairs regarding students, personnel, or resource management concerns in a timely manner, while also being responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of offices and staff within the department
Oversees the operation and delivery of student success programs and activities to include academic advising
Provides interpretation, oversight, and guidance in implementing student support programs to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations
Collaborates with academic support services, faculty, academic leadership, and campus leadership to develop strategies that demonstrate a learning community for all special populations to positively impact enrollment, retention, completion, and increase student satisfaction
Establishes, monitors, and reports on measurable outcomes of student support activities and early and targeted interventions and remediation initiatives
Coordinates efforts with Academic Affairs to monitor the utilization of academic support services and resources
Manages departmental budgets and institutional effectiveness plans
Serves on CARE Team, the college behavior intervention team
Provides leadership in emergency and crisis situations, including communications to senior and executive level staff.
Provides leadership and guidance in the analysis, creation, and interpretation of student policies and procedures; reviews and recommends policies and procedures in adherence with State and Federal law
Evaluates emerging assistive technologies and trains and develops the team as appropriate
Provides leadership and oversight for departmental activities, including workforce planning, performance management, process improvement, budgeting, and resource allocation
Focuses on achieving departmental and organizational objectives through effective management of people, programs, and operations
Leads through supervisors and professional staff by establishing priorities, supporting accountability, and developing team performance
Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
