About The Position

The Director of Student Services will be responsible for leading, coordinating, and supervising the integrated academic support services under the Student Services unit of the Deanship of Students. The Director will oversee the functions of Academic Advising, Care and Management of Academic and Student Situations, and the Student Support Program (PAE, by its Spanish acronym) and Habilidades+, ensuring that students receive the necessary guidance to persist, develop academically, and complete their studies.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in Guidance and Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Individuals holding an academic degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work must possess a current professional license corresponding to their discipline.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in student services, academic advising, or university administration.
  • At least two (2) years in personnel supervisory roles.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations applicable to higher education, including FERPA, ADA, and federal regulations applicable to federal programs.
  • Familiarity with academic advising models, retention strategies, and learning support programs.
  • Understanding of the identity and mission of a Catholic university and its commitment to holistic student service.
  • Ability to supervise interdisciplinary teams and foster a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to design, implement, and evaluate student support programs aligned with the institutional mission.
  • Skills in data collection, analysis, and interpretation for decision-making and report generation.
  • Budget management and fund administration skills, including federal funds when applicable.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish and English.
  • Ability to handle complex and sensitive situations with judgment, discretion, and a focus on student well-being.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Empathy, cultural sensitivity, and inclusion as core values in job performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in managing grant-funded programs for student support or success will be highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate the daily operations of the Student Services area, including the Academic Advising, Care and Management of Academic and Student Situations, and the PAE and Habilidades+ teams.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of area staff, promoting their professional development and teamwork.
  • Ensure effective coordination among the area's programs to offer students a cohesive and integrated experience.
  • Address and channel student situations of an academic or personal nature, ensuring prompt and effective referrals to the corresponding resources.
  • Ensure compliance with federal program requirements, including the preparation of reports, records, and audits.
  • Design and implement initiatives and programs aimed at strengthening student retention, persistence, and academic success.
  • Analyze program data to identify trends, evaluate impact, and propose continuous improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Students and the Associate Dean in the strategic planning of the Deanship and in the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Establish periodic meetings with their work team and with other areas of the Deanship to align efforts and coordinate services.
  • Orient students, faculty, and staff regarding the services available in the area.
  • Draft and update policies, procedures, and reports related to the functions of the area.
  • Represent the area in institutional meetings and activities as delegated by the Dean of Students.
