About The Position

The Director of Sports Performance - Olympic is responsible for designing, implementing, and scheduling strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports, primarily Baseball and Women’s Soccer, though coverage may change. This role involves assisting the Associate AD, Sports Performance in all aspects of the Division I Strength and Conditioning program, including teaching student-athletes weightlifting and conditioning techniques. The position also contributes to the daily operation and maintenance of strength and conditioning facilities and performs other assigned duties. Proficiency in Olympic and strength training movements, exercise selection, programming, speed mechanics, agility drills, and nutrition is required. Strong communication and relationship-building skills with coaches, athletic trainers, and student-athletes are essential. The role also supports other strength staff members. Travel is optional.

Requirements

  • Proficient in Olympic and strength training movements.
  • Proficient in exercise selection and programming.
  • Proficient in speed mechanics and agility drills.
  • Proficient in nutrition.
  • Ability to communicate and develop a working relationship with sport coaches, athletic trainers, and student-athletes.
  • Ability to move heavy weights.
  • Ability to demonstrate exercises/drills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules/regulations.
  • CPR-AED certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • SCCC or CSCS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and schedule strength and conditioning programs for assigned sports.
  • Teach student-athletes weightlifting and conditioning techniques.
  • Assist with the daily operation and maintenance of strength and conditioning facilities.
  • Oversee daily workflow of the Sports Performance department.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Fieldhouse Weight Room.
  • Oversee Graduate Assistants and curriculum.
  • Assist in hiring of assistant sports performance coaches.
  • Responsible for graduate assistant hiring and onboarding.
  • Assist in overseeing other full-time staff in Sports Performance.
  • Directly oversee the strength and conditioning programming and facilitation for the Baseball and Women’s Soccer programs.
  • Provide leadership in the development and assessment of initiatives supporting the University’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
  • Organize and prepare for meetings and events within the sports performance department.
  • Help oversee the High Performance Team Unit.
  • Oversee all High Performance Team student-athlete education.
  • Assist and collaborate with High Performance Team coaches education.
