About The Position

Skanska is seeking a dynamic Director of Special Projects to lead fast-paced, high-touch projects within its Special Projects Group (SPG). The Director of Special Projects will provide leadership for multiple project management teams, guiding them from pursuit to closeout. Responsibilities include planning and overseeing the entire project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered safely, ethically, and in compliance with all laws. This role is crucial for business development in the Seattle Market, focusing on cultivating new and expanding existing client relationships. SPG's work requires exceptional coordination, flexibility, and communication, often involving fast schedules, occupied environments, high client interaction, and a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and responsiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tenant improvements, excel at client service, thrive on compressed schedules, and enjoy mentoring high-performing teams.

Requirements

  • 8+ years proven track record of assuring client satisfaction.
  • 8+ years track record of delivering on-time projects.
  • 8+ years of experience maintaining or exceeding planned profit targets for projects.
  • 8+ years creating and maintaining a culture of safety.
  • 8+ years experience developing a culture of quality assurance and control.
  • Bachelor’s Degree – Construction Management or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall leadership for multiple projects by dedicated Project Management Teams.
  • Assemble, develop, and guide project teams from pursuit to closeout.
  • Plan and oversee all aspects of the project lifecycle including budgeting, scheduling, organization, implementation, and execution.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, ethically, and in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Oversee a smooth transition from the estimate/pre-construction phase to construction to protect the bid position.
  • Play a strategic part in business development for the Seattle Market.
  • Cultivate new client relationships and expand existing ones.
  • Identify opportunities independently while coordinating with the Senior Leadership Team on strategic clients and pursuits.
  • Manage and develop successful teams.
  • Balance multiple assignments.
