About The Position

MassHealth is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Special Projects, MassHealth Operations. The role plays a key leadership role within the MassHealth Chief Operating Office (COO) Division, supporting division-wide strategic initiatives, operational planning, and cross-functional project execution. This position works closely with the Chief Operating Officer and senior leadership to advance key priorities, coordinate stakeholders, manage special projects, and ensure momentum on high-impact operational initiatives. The Director also supports internal and external communications, develops briefing materials and presentations, leads meetings, and represents the COO in discussions with partners, state and federal agencies, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) six (6) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least two (2) years must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.
  • Substitutions: I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required (A) experience.
  • II. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required (A) experience.
  • III. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required (A) experience.
  • IV. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for four (4) years of the required (A) experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide thoughtful leadership, direction and execution for cross-functional, division-wide strategic projects or special initiatives; convene key stakeholders and help drive decisions and/or successful execution; identify opportunities to engage with other agencies/external stakeholders and cultivate collaborative processes.
  • Manage internal and external communications: directing development and/or draft materials for external communication including reports, decks, talking points, and presentations, in collaboration with other COO Division colleagues.
  • Support special projects, time sensitive requests from leadership, and provide general support and back up to the COO leadership team as directed.
  • Develop annual COO Operating plan and monitor operating plan objectives to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Represent the COO in meetings with state and federal agencies, vendors, trade associations, and other providers. Partner with the COO and other members of leadership in maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate agendas and lead internal and external meetings including staff meetings, leadership meetings, and other special events.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned or requested.
