About The Position

This is a DOJ grant funded position. Title and duties comply with grant requirements. The Director of Sexual Violence Prevention and Education creates, executes, and evaluates the university's efforts to create a safe and more supportive campus community and prevent sexual violence. Leads the Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) and oversees outreach and education efforts for students. Understands, completes, and reports on requirements of the Department of Justice grant funding this position.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in public health, health education, higher education, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years full time experience in the field of victim services ( including the development and implementation of SADDVS prevention and education ) and understanding of SADDVS and related issues on a college campus.
  • Demonstrated past experience working with student populations.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, market and evaluate meaningful and evidence-based educational resources and opportunities for students with a violence prevention/ healthy interpersonal relationship focus. Interventions will be targeted to all students and employees, but also will specifically target all incoming students, student athletes, student leaders, engaging men and historically marginalized populations, e.g., students of color, international students, LGBTQ students, and students living with disabilities.
  • Serve as the lead coordinator of the CCRT to expand and enhance mandatory and on-going prevention and education programming to create a safer and more supportive campus community. Evaluates the efforts of the CCRT though surveys, assessment data, and other means to identify and address gaps in sexual violence prevention and education.
  • Creates and implement plans to proactively engage more students in prevention efforts and overall culture change. Oversees, evaluates and continually improves peer education program, including recruitment, training and support of peer educators. Facilitate student peer education groups, trainings, workshops, special events, and presentations specific to SADDVS
  • Collaboration with community partners, and the coordination of services provided by them such as Bystander Intervention programs, etc.
  • Manage online prevention education programs for students, and coordinate with various offices to track participation/compliance and measure effectiveness. Oversees, evaluates and looks for ways to increase effectiveness of mandatory education programming for incoming first year and transfer students.
  • Participate in training from The Safe Zone Project to increase cultural awareness and sensitivity to LGBTQI specific concerns. Assist with the facilitation of wellness related programming in collaboration with the Student Wellness Center e.g. topics such as the relationship between alcohol/other substances and consent, etc.
  • Attend required DOJ orientation, trainings (travel required) and webinars to stay current with best practices in sexual violence prevention and education.
  • In consultation with the Vice President for student Affairs, manage a budget and submit of all DOJ required documentation and reports in consultation with the Vice President for Student Affairs or their designee. Assist with the development and implementation of Title IX campus climate surveys, assessments, and program evaluations pertaining to SADDVS
  • Participate and assist with University events and serve on University-wide committees as requested. Other projects and duties as assigned and in compliance with grant guidelines/restrictions. Collaborates with other members of the Student Affairs division to advance goals and initiatives of the division.
