About The Position

United Security Services, Inc., seeks to employ a Director of Security for a hotel in Portland, OR. With nearly 100 years of experience, we’ve built a reputation as one of the most trusted and established security providers in the country. The Director of Security is responsible for daily operations of hotel security. This role will oversee a 9,000 sq. Ft, 600-room property, and manage a nine-man officer team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in security management, preferably in a hotel or large facility setting or relevant law enforcement or military experience
  • Valid Security Officer Certification for the state of Oregon
  • Ability to work flexible hours (including nights, weekends, holidays).
  • Ability to stand, walk, and patrol the property for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items up to a certain weight (e.g., security equipment).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior law enforcement or military experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management or related field (preferred).
  • Crisis Management or Emergency Response Training(preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to any security incidents, emergencies, or alarms (fire, medical, or security threats)
  • Coordinate all CPR and First Aid training for USS Portland Staff.
  • Coordinate with local authorities (police, fire department, etc.) during emergency situations or investigations.
  • Generate, publish and maintain the schedule two weeks in advance.
  • Track shifts worked by employees and compile a Labor Summary to submit to Executive Leadership each morning.
  • Direct daily deployments and shift schedules for the nine-man officer team to ensure 24/7/365 coverage.
  • Deliver continuous training initiatives to ensure officers remain proficient in evolving hospitality safety standards.
  • Mentor individual security officers to build core operational leadership capabilities and professional growth.
  • Command emergency responses across all 600 guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
  • Enforce brand standard operating procedures, liability reduction protocols, and workplace safety compliance.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.
