About The Position

The Director of Sales is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing the entire sales & design department at Miller Creek Lawn & Landscape. This role ensures revenue growth, sales performance, pricing integrity, customer retention, and alignment between Sales, Design, and Production teams. The Director of Sales will manage all Sales Consultants, track and report performance metrics, conduct weekly 1-on-1 meetings, oversee pricing strategy, retain key client relationships, and make hiring and termination decisions within the sales department. This position requires strong leadership, accountability, strategic thinking, and the ability to build a high-performance sales culture.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in landscaping, construction sales, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of landscape design, estimating, and project profitability.
  • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, track KPIs, and make strategic decisions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Valid Driver’s License (Required)
  • MN DOT Medical Card (Required after hired)

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of sales leadership or team management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all Sales Consultants & designers.
  • Conduct weekly 1-on-1 meetings with each Sales Consultant.
  • Conduct weekly sales department meetings.
  • Set clear individual and team sales targets.
  • Maintain company sales targets.
  • Develop performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Create accountability systems to ensure follow-through and results.
  • Hire, onboard, train, and terminate sales team members as needed.
  • Foster a positive, competitive, and growth-oriented sales culture.
  • Ensure alignment between Sales, Design, Estimating, and Production teams.
  • Track key sales metrics
  • Provide weekly and monthly performance reports to leadership team
  • Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Hold the sales team accountable to profitability standards.
  • Oversee pricing strategy to ensure profitability and competitiveness. Review estimates for the first 6 months of news sales consultants. Review all estimates over 30K thereafter.
  • Approve proposals and large estimates as needed.
  • Ensure margins meet company targets.
  • Adjust pricing structures based on market conditions and company goals.
  • Work closely with Estimating and Production to prevent cost overruns.
  • Maintain relationships with key accounts and high-value clients.
  • Address escalated client concerns.
  • Monitor client satisfaction and retention rates.
  • Develop strategies to increase repeat business and referrals.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service standards are upheld.
  • Develop and implement annual sales goals and growth strategies.
  • Identify new market opportunities.
  • Improve sales processes and systems.
  • Evaluate and implement CRM or tracking tools as needed.
  • Train team members on industry trends, product knowledge, and selling strategies.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to improve lead generation efforts
