About The Position

The Director of Sales position involves responsibility for the development and implementation of sales and marketing programs for a large, multi-purpose building. The role also requires acting as an event coordinator between clients and building staff, attending building and community events as necessary, and participating in weekly staff meetings. This position demands a high level of event and conference planning and oversight, requiring the ability to work proficiently in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. While a director-level role, it necessitates active involvement in sales, event planning, and community engagement aligned with the mission of the Saratoga Springs City Center. The work requires a high degree of independent activity and thought, in collaboration with other facility staff, and is performed under the general supervision of the Executive Director. The position exercises supervision over sales staff and performs related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Hospitality (or a closely related field) and 5 years of full-time paid experience promoting activities which shall have involved scheduling and working with the public.
  • OR Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Hospitality (or a closely related field) and 6 years of full-time paid experience promoting activities which shall have involved scheduling and working with the public.
  • OR Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and 7 years of full-time paid experience in promoting activities which shall have involved scheduling and working with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements sales strategy and marketing concepts for the City Center.
  • Sells building space to clients for events.
  • Negotiates fees for the use of the building.
  • Maintains client contacts.
  • Coordinates building events schedules.
  • Maintains contact with a network of similar facilities.
  • Acts as event coordinator between clients and building staff.
  • Attends building and community events as necessary.
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings.
  • Exercises supervision over sales staff.
