About The Position

Chicago Marriott Northwest is seeking an experienced and results-driven Director of Sales to lead the hotel's sales strategy and revenue-generating efforts. The Director of Sales will be responsible for developing new business, maintaining strong client relationships, driving group and corporate sales, and leading the sales team toward achieving and exceeding revenue goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of hotel sales experience, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales and revenue targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and team-management abilities.
  • Experience with hotel sales systems, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and networking events.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Director of Sales, Assistant Director of Sales, Sales Manager, or similar position preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate, group, leisure, and meeting/event sales.
  • Strong understanding of the Chicago-area hospitality market preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and occupancy goals.
  • Lead, motivate, coach, and manage the hotel's sales team.
  • Generate new business through corporate accounts, group business, meetings, events, leisure accounts, and local partnerships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, meeting planners, travel professionals, and community organizations.
  • Conduct sales calls, client visits, presentations, site tours, and networking activities.
  • Manage key accounts and develop long-term client relationships.
  • Prepare and monitor sales forecasts, budgets, and performance reports.
  • Work closely with Revenue Management and hotel leadership to maximize hotel profitability.
  • Oversee group sales, contracts, proposals, negotiations, and client follow-up.
  • Promote the hotel's meeting, event, and group facilities.
  • Monitor competitor activity and market trends.
  • Represent the hotel at trade shows, conferences, networking events, and industry functions.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Food & Beverage, Front Office, and Events teams to ensure excellent client experiences.
  • Track sales performance and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Ensure all sales activities follow Marriott brand standards and company policies.
