About The Position

This role is responsible for formulating, submitting, and implementing the annual North America Groups and MICE sales strategy, action plan, and budget in alignment with the Group’s commercial objectives and the annual hotel sales targets. The Director will drive qualified group rooms, catering, and event revenue from North America for The Peninsula Hotels and Quail Lodge, with a focus on meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions, corporate groups, high-end social groups, leisure groups, and entertainment. The position involves identifying, developing, and managing a portfolio of high-potential Groups and MICE accounts, including corporate meeting planners, incentive houses, destination management companies, event agencies, associations, entertainment accounts, luxury travel partners, and specialist group intermediaries. Collaboration with hotel sales, catering, and events teams is crucial for lead qualification, pricing and availability discussions, proposal coordination, and converting inquiries into profitable business. The role requires ensuring North America Groups and MICE sales production targets are met or exceeded through disciplined account management, proactive solicitation, pipeline build-up tracking, and regular account performance reviews. Planning and executing sales calls, client events, roadshows, familiarisation trips, site inspections, trade shows, and industry activations to build awareness of The Peninsula’s offering is also a key responsibility. The Director will represent The Peninsula Hotels at relevant industry events, provide market intelligence on North American Groups and MICE trends, maintain accurate sales system data, and complete various sales activity reports. Partnership with Head Office and hotel teams to ensure consistent messaging and a seamless client experience is essential. Additionally, the role involves planning, coordinating, and executing North America Group & Mice focused sales missions and activations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive qualified group rooms, catering and event revenue from North America for The Peninsula Hotels and Quail Lodge.
  • Identify, develop and manage a portfolio of high-potential Groups and MICE accounts.
  • Work closely with hotel sales, catering and events to qualify leads, support pricing and availability discussions, coordinate proposals and convert enquiries.
  • Ensure North America Groups and MICE sales production targets are met or exceeded.
  • Plan and execute sales calls, client events, roadshows, familiarisation trips, site inspections, trade shows and industry activations.
  • Represent The Peninsula Hotels at relevant Groups and MICE trade events and partner forums.
  • Provide market intelligence on North American Groups and MICE trends, booking windows, competitor activity, planner requirements and destination demand.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date account profiles, lead records, activity reports and pipeline information in the relevant sales systems.
  • Complete weekly sales activity reports, month-end production updates, post-event reports and other analyses.
  • Partner with Head Office and hotel teams to ensure consistent messaging, compelling sales & marketing materials, and a seamless luxury client experience.
  • Plan, coordinate and execute North America Group & Mice focused sales missions and activations.
