About The Position

The Director of Sales & Marketing owns the sales and marketing strategy for Dickie Brennan & Company’s family of restaurants—from concept through planning and execution. This role ensures that all print and digital promotions, campaigns, events, communications, and sales materials advance the strategic objectives of the restaurants. The ideal candidate is a high-energy, hands-on leader who can inspire the team, handle objections with confidence, and roll up their sleeves to deliver results. They will guide a team of sales and marketing professionals—providing clear direction while empowering the team to move quickly. Success in this role requires a passion for crafting value propositions and messaging that resonate with customers, strong analytical skills, and the ability to influence cross-functionally. This leader develops and drives sales and marketing strategy focused on private and group sales for Dickie Brennan & Company family of restaurants. They represent the company with clients, bridge sales and operations, and promote the properties to local businesses and the tourism industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Marketing, Business, or related field; Marketing preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in hospitality sales/marketing, plus five years managing a sales team
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to organize and convert key information into clear, concise written documents
  • Excellent organizational, project management, multi-tasking, time-management, follow-up, and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Solid food background and/or passion for food and fine dining, with strong knowledge of the local market
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and modern digital collaboration tools; strong internet and email skills
  • Working knowledge of professional office operations and standard office equipment
  • Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment with a strong customer-service orientation

Responsibilities

  • Develop sales targets in partnership with management and ownership
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on growth programs and promotions
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales revenue goals
  • Develop and track team sales metrics (calls, site tours, new customers, etc.) and deliver accurate reporting
  • Plan and lead outside sales missions, including face-to-face and phone outreach
  • Create and maintain effective sales presentations for direct (individuals, corporate) and indirect (hotels, DMCs) customers
  • Identify and analyze local and regional competition
  • Handle or assign inquiries (web, phone, restaurant) to team members
  • Participate in site tours, menu tastings, booking processes, operational updates, and client handoff to operations as needed
  • Oversee business development activities within the sales department
  • Direct sales forecasts and set performance goals accordingly
  • Review and analyze sales performance against plans to assess effectiveness
  • Conduct regular outreach to acquire new customers and maintain relationships with existing ones
  • Ensure prompt, systematic responses to all customer inquiries and feedback
  • Follow up on proposals and negotiate contracts
  • Maintain and oversee established sales systems and processes
  • Direct day-to-day public relations, press, and marketing communications (in-house and with external agencies)
  • Develop marketing communication campaigns with clear messaging tailored to target accounts, markets, and segments
  • Create and monitor sales and marketing operating budgets; identify opportunities to reduce costs or increase impact
  • Apply strong omnichannel marketing expertise across digital, social, SEM, SEO, direct mail, print, broadcast, and CRM
  • Optimize the company’s presence in search and digital media; leverage technology to promote the restaurants
  • Manage projects and deadlines, including post-campaign analysis
  • Negotiate and manage media and promotion contracts
  • Oversee development of promotional materials and activities (advertising, collateral, online/social media, direct mail) while maintaining consistent brand standards
  • Identify and pursue new sales and marketing channels and opportunities
  • Oversee internal and external corporate communications, including public relations initiatives
  • Plan and oversee marketing events in coordination with restaurant and event management
  • Keep restaurant leadership informed of sales and marketing activities
  • Analyze customer research, market conditions, and competitor information to guide focus and adapt to changing conditions
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry influencers, strategic partners, and the customer base
  • Represent Dickie Brennan & Company restaurants in promotional activities, trade association meetings, and industry events
  • Grow guest relationships through social media, email newsletters, website, and content platforms; stay current with social media trends and best practices
  • Lead the design, implementation, and facilitation of the overall sales and marketing strategy and plans
  • Maintain knowledge of local and regional markets related to competitive pricing, menu development, promotions, and related areas; benchmark competitor performance
  • Stay informed of current developments in the business market to assess company position and identify improvement opportunities
  • Partner with ownership to identify, evaluate, and structure potential agreements for venues, concepts, or partnerships
  • Identify new business or partnership opportunities through networking, research, meetings, trade shows, and community involvement
  • Present solutions and meet regularly with leadership on growth opportunities
  • Develop and execute business development and marketing plans for potential new ventures
  • Facilitate contract execution, budget negotiations, and research programs with potential partners; develop related internal and external communications
  • Work with chefs to develop menus for client tastings, seasonal events, and special events
  • Serve as liaison for clients regarding setup, presentation, and timing
  • Collaborate with management and ownership to develop new sales tools (e.g., additional products, off-site catering opportunities)
  • Provide training and leadership to the sales and marketing teams; coach and develop team members to support growth and deliver exceptional guest satisfaction
  • Establish clear responsibilities for each team member
  • Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and support team development
  • Maintain visibility in the hospitality community and represent the company at local business meetings to generate sales opportunities
  • Build and maintain partnerships with entities such as the Saenger Theatre, the Cabildo, St. Louis Cathedral, Jesuit Church, and related organizations
  • Maintain membership and active participation in relevant industry organizations; stay current on industry trends
  • Support team members in obtaining agreed-upon professional training and certifications (e.g., CCE, CMP)
  • Represent the restaurants in promotional activities, trade association meetings, and related events
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing publications, building networks, and participating in professional societies
  • Attend designated meetings as required
  • Serve as a role model who presents oneself as a credit to the restaurants and encourages others to do the same
  • Perform related work and other duties as assigned
