About The Position

Superior Rigging & Erecting is seeking a proven safety leader to serve as their Director of Safety & Risk Management. This role reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer and serves as the senior safety leader for the organization. The position works closely with executive leadership to drive safety performance, operational excellence, workforce development, and risk reduction across the company. This is a highly visible leadership opportunity for an experienced construction safety professional who wants to influence company strategy, strengthen safety culture, mentor safety teams, and help guide the next phase of organizational growth. The position offers a salary based on experience, plus a vehicle allowance, company fuel card, expense card, comprehensive benefits package, and direct exposure to executive leadership. The Director of Safety & Risk Management will help shape how safety is integrated into every aspect of our business while supporting continued growth across multiple operations and project locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Risk Management, or related field
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
  • 10+ years of progressive construction safety leadership experience
  • Experience leading safety programs across multiple projects, locations, or business units
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards (29 CFR 1926)
  • Experience leading incident investigations and root cause analysis programs
  • Experience partnering directly with executive and operational leadership teams
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to travel regularly to project sites and operational locations
  • Must currently reside within the greater Atlanta metropolitan area

  • OSHA 500 Construction Outreach Trainer
  • CSP, CHST, CIH, or equivalent professional certification
  • Experience supporting crane operations, rigging, steel erection, industrial construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, EPC, or heavy civil operations
  • Experience managing safety teams across multiple locations
  • Experience leading enterprise safety culture transformation initiatives
  • Experience supporting large general contractors, industrial contractors, or similarly complex organizations

Responsibilities

  • Lead the company's safety strategy across all business units and operational locations
  • Serve as the primary safety advisor to executive leadership
  • Develop and maintain corporate safety policies, procedures, and standards
  • Partner with Operations, Human Resources, Project Management, and field leadership to improve safety performance
  • Support crane, rigging, steel erection, transportation, fabrication, and specialty construction operations
  • Conduct audits, assessments, and operational reviews
  • Lead investigations involving serious incidents, near misses, and high-potential events
  • Implement structured corrective action and risk reduction programs
  • Develop leading and lagging indicator reporting systems
  • Evaluate trends and identify opportunities to improve performance
  • Support workforce development through training, coaching, and leadership engagement
  • Mentor and develop safety professionals throughout the organization
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Promote a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
